mr. muse and I have been having one of our whirlwind Broadway weekends. Three shows in two days. Of interest around here is probably that tonight we went to Hedwig and the Angry InchI’m still in a post-Hedwig delirium, but what I can say about Darren as Hedwig is that (compared to NPH, whom I saw in the role last year and who was great but a ( Read more... )

Hi Muse
Thank you for sharing your experiene of Hedwig and hanging out with Darren back stage (you are very fortunate re. the latter..,) I went to see the show Saturday afternoon just over a week ago and loved it. The only down side for me was worrying about Darren's safety dancing and climbing and jumping on and off props on those freaking high heel shoes! i just kept stepping out of the story in those moments of potential danger for him, Hedwig be damned. Oh, but Darren was so good.

I am still thinking about the performance and contemplating returning for an evening show. I was sitting very close to the stage and able to see and feel the performance with great intensity (except when my worry crept in); a man a couple of seats away from me was the recepient of a surprise visit and kiss from Hedwig,

It was wonderful to experience Darren in character at such close range again (I was also very close in "How to Suceed in Business...) Still, I kind of would like meet him as himself in person already. I knew that he wouldn't be coming out betwen shows on the weekend and getting my program signed was not a high priority for me ( not to mention that I don't care much for big crowds) Still. Maybe next time, right? Carmen

Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed it, too! It was such an intense performance... and I kept watching for how carefully he was placing his feet and hands when he was climbing. He's a pro! In so many ways!

The crowd outside the theater was fairly well-behaved if you do find yourself at a performance where he signs afterwards. The staff keeps order. Something to think about if you do go back. :)
