After hearing a series of distressing personal news just prior to this weekend (one of my best friends lost their baby and several relatives have acute health crises), it was definitely an extremely pleasant shock to discover that I had been voted into the Order of the Pelican. The best part? I was in good company - Baron Sasha had his elevation ceremony during the same court, and
blindleadsblind was announced the same time as me. Afte BLB was granted permission by his knight and lady and announced the intended date of his vigil, I opted to just have my ceremony done there on the spot. No muss, no fuss. (Heck, if my wedding was going to be relatively impromptu and low-key, why shouldn't my second peerage elevation?!)
In addition, I was very pleased to be present for the announcement of Finneadan's impending elevation to the Order of the Laurel. Congrats girlie!
Even though I've posted this elsewhere, let me again express gratitude and astonishment regarding my elevation into the Order of the Pelican this past weekend. Many thanks to the members of that illustrious Order, Their Majesties, and of course, the populace of our magnificent kingdom. You all rock. Vivat!
What a year - a graduate school fellowship, a wedding and now this. What's next? Admittedly, as always, I'm waiting for life's inevitable counterbalance to all this good fortune...
