Computer blues....1,2,3 let's jam

I officially have no computer. Haven't for a while now. The ones I was trying to piece back together are dead. Deceased. Kaput. Fershtunken. Fertig. Ferfallen. Ferlumpt. Ferblunget. Ferkackt. *can't remember the song Ms. Von Shtupp spontaneously breaks into here in Blazing Saddles, dang it!*

Sad, sad times they are.

However my parents, generous as ( Read more... )

Last few years, I seem to buy cheap and/or refurbished computers every year, either at School Supply Time, or about Christmas time. I have an Acer, a Toshiba, and a Compaq laptop. Of the three, I like the Toshiba best.

My current desktop is a refurbished Acer I picked up at PCMall mail order (well, Internet Order). My system before that was a refurbished Dell I got from TigerDirect. It still works, but the hard drive is starting to crash, so I stopped using it. I'm cheap...none of my systems cost over $300. Did upgrade the ram on the Toshiba, and am going to on this system...

Oh, I get tendonitis if I write too long with a pen...ouch. In fact, I use the Microsoft ergonomic keyboard on all my systems, laptop and desktop. Achy hands suck!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't have a fav, fav system...what matters to me is the processor. This system has a quad processor, and runs way much faster than any of my others...But I push my browser hard, with too many tabs running various java script stuffies open at one time...

I love refurbs - they make me happy. I tend to buy refurbished all the time - I don't get why people are so skittish about em. *shrugs* Then again, some of the brand new stuff I've seen people get has been crap, so maybe I just know it depends on WHAT you get, not how new and shiny it is. Ptth.

I'm not really an online shopper, per se though, so I hadn't actually heard of either of those sites. Maybe I'll look em up and browse them a bit. Always good to have ideas of what's out there.

But yeah, I'm definitely like you with pushing my system. Mine tend to freeze up on me because I like to run Photoshop and Word and an overloaded browser all at the same time. Poor, poor computer. *tsk tsk* At least I'm not a gamer on top of it or I'd really have to lay some dough down! Haha.

And gah! the ergonomics. I'm soo happy the lovely, wonderful, generous gift-givers decided to go with a desktop instead of a laptop because this way I won't give myself massive headaches all the time. (On top of the nerve issues in the arms I have neck issues. Have I mentioned I'm only in my 20s? haha.) So being able to separate the keyboard and monitor is a big bonus in my book. Yay for that ^_^ Ah, the little things. I may have to look into getting one of those ergonomic keyboards one of these days... You really think they make that much of a difference, eh?
