I am now slightly impressed with myself.

Still furious with Dell, but as of this evening (if the order gets cancelled when the nice little Indian lady said it would), Jack is no more.

*pause for sadness*

Yes, I am a bit sad that I'm not getting the funky top that I wanted and the exact specifications asked for, but right now I don't give a flying fuck. Dell have pushed me around too much on this, and I wouldn't fully enjoy it when I got it probably. (I mean, NOVEMBER).

So, Mum now says we can go buy one FROM A SHOP this afternoon, she'll put it on her credit card and I can pay her back when my money is refunded.
All is well in the world.

I've even picked a new name :) ('Jack' has too many bad associations ><).
Not picked a brand yet, but I have the specs. my brother has advised me, and I can show him off soon :)

I feel rather better with myself now.

PS - I shall never say a harsh word against little Indian women in call centres again. She was helpful, mostly understandable (I suck at understanding people over the phone ><), and we muddled through the process quickly and easily. Once I gave my reasons, she didn't even try and persuade me against it. Money refunded in 3-5 days, order cancelled by the end of the day.
Not impressed with the Dell website though, as it is IMPOSSIBLE to find out how to cancel your order - I had to go through a right rigamarole to get there. Thankfully she was so helpful when I eventually DID get there that it was reasonably simple.

This should, hopefully, be the end of the Epic Laptop Saga.
