The yoga class went really well. The teacher was very friendly and made sure I was doing everything correctly. I have major balance issues, though--I was trembling, not from the effort of holding the stretch but from trying not to fall down! I did fall once, but that's pretty good for me, honestly. The teacher said I had a great first class, and everyone seemed friendly and non-judgemental. I felt very relaxed afterward, and I think it'll be a nice complement to my Curves workout. Huzzah!
Let's see. I am going to sign up for that Spanish class on Friday (or next week when I get back, maybe) when I get paid. I hope they still have spots left. If not, I guess there's always next semester. I'll set the fee aside so I can register as soon as it opens.
What else, what else. I'm making progress on cleaning out my "craft room." Seriously, this place is a train wreck. I took all my potted plants in there to overwinter, since it's the sunniest room in the house, then promptly forgot to water them, so the floor is covered in dried up bits of basil leaf and there are tiny spiders everywhere. And SO MANY papers, including some entertaining bits and pieces of my high school writing efforts. My writing (actual writing, not this choppy journal stuff) has definitely become more polished since then, but those pieces still have some flair. I had forgotten what a sassy obnoxious teenager I was, though.
Anyway, once that's clean hopefully I can actually progress on my scrapbooking, especially my study abroad scrapbook. I'm starting to forget things, and I really need to record them before that happens. Also, since it seems that everyone I know is gallivanting about the world having adventures again, I'm getting pretty nostalgic, and scrapbooking is good for that.
I need to find out how much I'm getting paid now so I can redo my budget. We need to save up some money, since we have very little in savings, and I'd like to try putting some in my 401(k), which would be prudent, and we have some house repairs that really need to be done (i.e. the electrical system, which was apparently installed in the seventies by a retarded baboon from the nineteenth century). BUT more importantly, I'd like to save up to do some more traveling (rather than whine about how everyone is adventuring and I'm stuck in Tulsa).
Places I want to go:
*California, with Hyphen. Disneyland, Sea World, all that stuff. He's never been, and I love Disneyland (shut up).
*Frankfurt, to visit Kelly! And Denise!
*And while I'm there, of course a trip to Freiburg would be in order.
*England, to visit Kara!
*Ireland! Perhaps I can find some relatives!
*And while I'm there, let's do Europe again. The problem is that I want to both go /back/ to everywhere I've been, see everything again /and/ see what I missed in those places, AND go to everywhere I didn't get to go before.
*The Kentucky Derby with Courtney (I have always always wanted to go and wear a hugenormous hat and drink mint juleps and watch all the horses. DON'T LAUGH AT ME).
*A nice, long trip to Albuquerque, maybe with side trips to other entertaining places in the area. I want to see Carlsbad Caverns again, and White Sands, and and and!
*Japan, to visit Oggy.
*Australia, to visit Katie, even though she's never invited me. I'm inviting myself, mmmkay? Though I wouldn't be too concerned about me showing up on your doorstep anytime in the near future, if I were her.
*In general: India, Africa (Egypt! Morocco! A safari!), South America (wherever!). Someone needs to move to all of these places so I can visit you.
*A mission trip. I'd also like to travel somewhere and do something of use.
Reviewing that list, I hope I eventually have scads of money and free time, because it basically sums up to me wanting to go everywhere and do everything. I left off almost everywhere in the US I want to visit, though these trips are probably more practical. I think California will happen eventually, and the Kentucky Derby HAS to happen before we die, and Albuquerque seems pretty practical, but the rest...hmmm. I guess I'll just see what I can manage, and see what I can budget. I'm just afraid house repairs and car emergencies and Hyphen's loans are all going to come first, and the fun stuff will never happen. Blah.
But still. At least some of it will, and in the mean time I'll just have to be content with Tulsa and explore the area as a substitute.
Still, things are looking up. I'm trying to do some stuff I've wanted to do for awhile, and hopefully everything will all keep working out so I'll be able to take advantages of opportunities that come my way. I'm certainly keeping busy, at least!
