Most of you know, this isn't my "new year"...but I'm glad to see the calendar year 2006 ending.
What a frelling awful year 2006 was!
I'm not generally political, but is there ANYONE who doesn't foresee the coming firestorm when they try to execute Saddam Hussein? The clock is ticking...
Personally, I don't know why they're going to make a martyr of him like that. The world would be better served by allowing him to die of old age, impotent and locked away in prison. By killing him--even deservedly--the Powers That Be are only going to give him an almost supernatural power over his constituents and those that will use him as a rallying cry. Once he's no longer a human man and he's transcended to the position of Spiritual Symbol...well, you're smart. You see it.
On the personal front, with having looked at The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury, I think the trilogy novels are going to be packed in mothballs and I'll just write something else. I finished Holy Blood in 2001, long before Dan Brown figured he'd rip off the docudrama "Holy Blood Holy Grail" and its book/authors...and at this point, I think any book on the Templars is going to be overlooked. I'm a prolific writer for the most part (the past three months notwithstanding...stupid job...), so writing something else and trying to sell THAT would be more logical if I want to try to become a successful author. I can always pull out Holy Blood if an editor or publisher wants to see them. It'd be a better sell once I establish my name, anyway.
I'm considering uploading it to the Yahoo Group website I established for discussion of the novels later on down the line...as a private-access to friends only...anyone interested in that? Only about seven people have read the first book so far; the other two I've kept close to my lapels.
I truly want to get over my bronchitis so I can interview like a relatively-normal person. Squeaking and coughing at a potential employer isn't a good thing. I only have Mondays free until the end of February, so I have to hustle...but being croupy has thrown a considerable spanner in the works.
I pray all of you get what your heart desires in the coming calendar year. I think we all deserve it...but keep in mind that world events may end up eclipsing whatever we want for our personal lives.
Love you,
Nechtan :)
