It's not the heat, it's the humidity. No, I lie. It's the heat and the humidity. But especially the humidity - I feel like someone signed me up as an extra in Finding Nemo without telling me.
Apparently our prisons are trying an open door policy this summer. How very... something.
I thought when I went looking for Firefly fanfic that I was ready to try just about anything in the way of pairings. Open-minded reader, that's me. Then I started actually reading and discovered that no, I have preferences, and I don't know where they came from. Okay, wanting to read about Zoe and Wash is pretty self-explanatory, I think. But even though I adore Mal and Simon*, I don't really want Mal/Simon. I thought I might, but. I think it's because I like (the idea of) Mal/Inara so much. But then, I also like Simon/Kaylee and that doesn't stop me from instead wanting to read Simon/Jayne and Inara/Kaylee. Which again leaves Mal out in the cold, so apparently, I'm very fond of Mal but I don't want to see him get laid. Maybe I should just look for some good gen stories where no one gets laid at all.
Any of you ever done this - started reading in a fandom and discovered pairing preferences you didn't know you had?
