Remember oh so long ago when I joined that meetup group where people get together to eat at new places? I completely wouldn't be surprised if you didn't since it's been months and months ago. Well, today I finally went to another of their events.
It was at Meltdown in Culver City, which is a grilled cheese sandwich restaurant. Yes, indeed. A grilled cheese sandwich restaurant. Amazing. The owner is a very nice guy who opened up special on Sunday for about 15 of us to try a selection of his sandwiches. We got:
A cup of most tasty tomato soup
Classic 3 Cheese (sharp cheddar, muenster, and fontina w/tomato on sourdough)
Cheddar, Ham & Apple (sharp cheddar, smoked ham, apple butter on sourdough)
Turkey Melt (brie, roasted turkey breast, arugala, cranberry-horseradish mustard on walut bread)
Brie & Apricot (brie, apricot preserves on walnut bread)
Goat Cheese, Fig & Honey (goat cheese, wildflower honey, fig preserves on walnut bread)
They were all wonderful, but my favorite was the Turkey melt. The sweet ones I wasn't so impressed with, but that could just be my prejudice that grilled cheese sandwiches should be gooey, greasy, and salty.
