Things had been relatively quiet lately for Pearl. After the incident with Ms. Elise, Pearl had gone back to Kurain for a while to calm down and work on her training. The young girl had done well there, as it was her original home and she hadn't expected to go back to see Mr. Nick any time soon. In all honesty, she wasn't sure what was going on lately with Mr. Nick or Mystic Maya, but she could hope they were both doing well. Mystic Maya did come visit her every so often, which was nice, but Pearl was pretty busy and didn't have much time.
It was strange, though, being at Kurain without Mystic Maya for any length of time now. At one point, she'd had her mother to keep her company, but now that Morgan was gone, Pearl was pretty much alone. But that was okay. She knew Mystic Maya and Mr. Nick were bonding and that was important. So she could handle things just fine here.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, that didn't last too much longer. History had a tendency to repeat itself sometimes. In this case, Pearl was actually playing with her ball again one day in March when she ran down the Winding Way. The ball got loose from her hands, knocking into the table that supported the Sacred Urn again, after it was brought back from the exhibit. The idea was protection for a short time, but that protection was meant for thieves, not little girls with play balls. And so the Sacred Urn met an unfortunate crash once again. It was being repaired at the moment, but the idea for Pearl to go back and help 'that lawyer man' was suggested and so she agreed, figuring that being around Mr. Nick would probably be the best.
So she'd gotten a train ride back to the city and headed back in. She was halfway across the town when she realized she'd forgotten where Mr. Nick's offices were. The phone she used occasionally when she'd gotten lost before had been left in her old room, so she didn't have it with her. Stopping outside a rather large and beautiful building, she chewed on her thumb gently as she glanced around and tried to figure out where she was. She hadn't meant to get lost; after all, she didn't want to worry Mr. Nick. But here she was: lost again.
If she didn't figure out where she was relatively soon, she'd go inside and ask for a phone. Or maybe she'd do that now. Turning towards the pretty building, Pearl began to climb the stairs.
