Status change: crossposts

Those of you who "knew me by an earlier name" will know I kicked LJ to the curb in 2007 (loudly and proudly) when the company was sold to the Russian consortium that had suspected links to suppression of free speech there and questionable upkeep on company servers to boot. My migration to Dreamwidth went smoothly, and the folks who run DW have maintained all the features that made me love LJ long ago: subject headings for posts with changeable subject lines as topics altered, good icon storage and volume, swift support when technical issues arose, and a responsible management team that set out company policy about protecting fen from overzealous DCMA and C&D orders; DW was built by the folks who had the same principles as AO3, at the same time. I continue to believe that DW provides a superior product at the end of the day.

Some of my LJ friends migrated, but many did not. Those in Harry Potter, or Milliways, or FFA, moved to DW. By and large, those in Pros stayed on LJ.

For a long time, I worked with a few folks on DW to try to build that Pros community by establishing fora for discussion, story reading groups, and so on. It just hasn't taken off the way I would like. Keeping up with stories by AO3 post was acceptable, but hardly optimal.

Being at BistoCon this year made clear to me that I have been missing a large community, my community, and I don't want to go on missing it. I can't wait 2 years for my next big hit of Pros-y goodness in all its flavors. So I will be crossposting my material at DW (what little I do post) and LJ. It is probably something I ought to have done long ago. As ever, I'll be lurking more than anything else.
