picture of a black hole

Apr 08, 2019 18:10

for those of you that don't know, on April 10 the Event Horizon Telescope will release the first picture of a black hole. It was made using a process called synthetic aperture imaging - a telescope took images of the same area of the sky almost every night for an entire year. Those images all get smooshed together thanks to mathematics, and produce an image equivalent to one made by a giant telescope the size of the entire Earth's orbit.

I love living in the future!
