Of happy ears

It's been a while, but I finally managed to catch a perf today at the esplanade. Was very glad I went for this one.. This pianist, Lise De La Salle, made her Singapore debut at this performance - she had previously been performing with the major orchestras and apparently had her first perf at 9 (I think I was still falling into holes at 9 - still am)! she performed this rather technically demanding piece (even to my untrained ears). There were many parts that were .. fast and loud? Super a lot of stamina a think.. :o and very nice.

John Nelson was the guest conductor for this concerto, and the symphony after. He was.. wow.. pretty great in guiding the pieces along, especially the symphony which clocked in at 68 mins. Think I saw a drop of sweat flying off him.. dunno if the sso kena not haha! They were great as usual.. the percussionists and one-and-only-harpist (onoh?) got to perform a bit more today which is always cool. :)

For ref:
Camille Saint-Saens - Piano Concerto No.2 in G minor, Op. 22
Gustav Mahler - Symphony No. 5 in C# minor

stuff
