Went to watch A Midsummers' Night Dream by the SRT over at Fort Canning on Sat. Decision was spawned by the fact that tix were discounted, also I studied the text in school and thought it would be interesting to see it live. Comments? Pretty darn good, I must say. I had forgotten so much of it! But watching the play made it slowly come back. Even remembered my lit tutor's(anne ang...) words tagged to certain lines in the play, ok. Never underestimate your teachers. Or the power of sublimal learning. Cast wise - Puck was not that great, got Singaporean/Malaysian accent one. Also his makeup damn scary. Hermia was very annoying, at times screeching her lines. The rest were pretty good. Helena, the supposedly whiny/annoying one, was surprisingly likeable in the play. And Bottom was .. great! Very spot-on comedic timing. But kudos to them all, having to run ALL OVER THE PLACE while spouting their lines (and not as if it's in our everyday English), with no trace of breathlessness at all.. Auntie speculates that they must run 5 k a week or something. Eh but they very liberal in the play hor? All that lip-locking. I wonder if the plays were done like that in Shakespeare's day..use up all the zhu1 longs2 ok..
Watched it with Auntie, Beep and Mr Beep. There should have been a bunch more, but all were unable to make it, for some reason. Then again the mat was big enough for just 4, hyuk. Very enjoyable, hanging out. There was potato salad contributed by Beep/Mr Beep, fruits and onion rings and drinks. Sitting on the slope, with stage action being conducted all around us .. it was something else man. I'm usually not one for plays and such, but this has definitely opened me up to the possibilities of watching more productions in the future.
Before this I watched Spidey3 with Auntie. Alamak, the movie so hot one ah..every hour it was showing, and a lot of it was either sold out or selling fast. The both of us were like late, and cabbing in from our respective directions, managed to reach at about 15 past showtime. Auntie reached first and had to queue for our prebooked tickets along with the walk-ins (Cathay, can you go and reflect on this pls?!), giving the evil eye to people who were deliberating over which seat to pick. Also the guy who got out at the 2nd floor but fat-fingeredly pressed the 3rd floor button instead. We got to our floor and thought briefly of getting popcorn:
Me to ticket guy: has the movie started yet?
Ticket guy: It's already started..
Me and Auntie: GARRRGHHHHH!!!
We thus went in without our popcorn and Auntie (who hadn't eaten) watched the movie on an empty stomach. So occasionally I could hear the plantitive "Auntie wo3 hen3 e4~~" while Spidey was swinging off one tower or the other. So after that we charged over to Billy Bombers and overloaded on carbs (potate salad, cheese fries, onion rings). Thus full, (Auntie wo3 bao3 le, hen2 xiang3 shui4 jiao4~~~) Auntie very nicely accompanied me back to house to get the car. Thanks Auntie.. :)
On Sun I woke up with a flu. Went out with folks to IMM when it eased, for lunch. Apparently Tank had something on over there, and sung a couple of songs to a medium-sized crowd. My folks were like "eh who is it? Ah heck. Take pictures first!" haha. but I didn't take any eventually. 1. Wasn't close enough to (medium sized crowd comprised quite a few rabid fans with those posters/boards for vision-obliterating purposes), and er.. 2. Tank a bit katek so it was hard to squeeze off a good shot. There was this guy, though, that had a portable ladder (in this week's wtf?! moment) and a badassed looking camera (yes even more so than josh's). Folks and I watched in amazement as guy went around, ladder in one hand and camera in the other, and climbed up and down over different locations. Well he wouldn't have to worry about not getting any good shots, I would think.
wow this is one big boo2!
