I promised this but it became really tough to write because of uhm, emotions. It's unbeta'ed and stuff, but hope you like.

heroes, hiro/charlie, pg, 358 words, I don't own them, spoilers up to 1x10 'six months ago'. Title means "goodnight" in Japanese.
The great thing about stopping time is that when it stops, Hiro really doesn't feel it continuing. He lives in a timeless space, and he does everything or nothing at all, and he could stop time and do everything there is to do and nothing would change until he restarts time. So when he carefully folds a thousand origamis, it doesn't feel like that big an effort. The thing between what feels like a blink of an eye to Charlie, it's not time, it just is.
She gasps from shock and wonder, and he feels happy because then he knows she'll say yes. She has to say yes. He really will save her and spend all the time there is to spend.

They let him stay in the guest room above the diner, if he works in the diner. He's okay with the deal and everyone treats him slightly suspiciously but act polite towards him, apart from Charlie, who's all warmth and smiles and no hesitance.
Before leaving work, she takes his hand in his and promises to study the phrase book before going to bed. His hand perspires in hers and he feels a bit self-conscious. She tells him goodnight in Japanese and he mutters the same words back to her, without even really realizing she spoke Japanese, his heart pounding a little too fast.
It's all over too quickly.

The sad thing about death shrines is that the only thing they really is remind one that somebody isn't there anymore. They just don't exist and memories, pictures, the candles burn that around the shrine are all that's left. In memorial.
It's all he has left of Charlie now. Nothing real, just a vague presence in the back of his mind, something that he can't really even grasp properly. She just slipped away and he couldn't save her.
All he can think about is if he could just go back. Just be with her. Even if it can't be forever, even if he could never have forever.

He can't do everything but he wishes it hadn't taken Charlie for the universe to show him he couldn't.
Author's Note: And when I said emotions, I meant I kept wanting to cry when starting to write any of this. Which is why it's so sad and miserable and angsty and oh my sweet Hiro, why must they make you suffer. :(
