I was thinking last night, while watching Main Khiladi Tu Anari (ahahahaha!), so yeah, I bring you...
10 Random Bollywood Confessions
1. I want Saif to marry Rosa.
For shallow and un-shallow reasons. Shallow because she looks so gorgeous in Indian clothing, I want to see her in a wedding sari. Hell, I just want to see a shaadi picture of the two of them, period. She's hot, he's hot.
Yeah. Un-shallow, because from everything I know, it feels like behind every successful man is a woman and for Saif that woman certainly is Rosa. She seems to make him happy and help his confidence, but also keep him grounded because she's not a part of the Bollywood circus and thus didn't know him as a star, but just an ordinary guy.
Someone posted an interview on BollyWHAT? where Saif said his mother wants him to marry Rosa and he agrees. Aw. I hope for good things for that couple.
2. I can't fangirl SRK.
I don't like saying he reminds me of my dad because frankly it makes my dad sound like some super incredible person who could star in Baazigar or win the hearts of millions worldwide. No, nothing like that. I love SRK and I can certainly fangirl him in that "He's so cool/funny/charming/talented!"-way but I could never be a pagali of his and drool over his pictures or anything that the folks on SRK.org spend their days doing. He gives off this fathery vibe. There are some pictures of SRK that I would look at and go, "Wow, he looks so much like my dad!". My dad is pretty good-looking, not as good-looking as SRK but I don't know. It's the hair, I think. I don't have a picture of my dad and I can't really explain this any further. Safe to say, it's not a bad thing, though, and I don't mind it.
There was this recent picture of SRK in a pair of modern reading specs where he's on the computer and has this very serious expression on his face. I swear that's exactly what my dad looks like when he's on the computer (he has reading glasses like that, as well!), doing bills or something. It's whack.
3. I prefer musician interviews to actor interviews.
There are some exceptions. I will read short interviews with just about any actor. I will read long-ish interviews with just about anyone, if I'm bored enough. I will read if it's about a film I'm looking forward to. But overall I prefer reading interviews of music directors and lyricists. I just read a Vishal-Shekhar interview on IndiaFM that actually had me laughing out loud a few times. Love those guys (Bluffmaster & Salaam Namaste soundtracks are LOVE, too). I also enjoyed some Shankar-Ehsan-Loy interviews, A.R. Rahman of course, Gulzar the lyricist always interesting to read about, Himesh Reshmiya... I haven't found many singer interviews but I'd also like those.
Acting as a profession.. Well, usually the interviews are more about the stars themselves then how they work on roles. There are some people whose interviews I will want to read so bad I will stop whatever I'm doing just to read them. First of all, Aamir Khan - he always has something worthwhile to say. Kajol - because I love her so much, she could just describe her socks in 1,000 words or less and I'd read it. Some character actors who always have interesting things to say, like Shabana Azmi or Naseeruddin Shah. To a certain extent, Saif - because he tends to be my number uno and I'm always interested in what he has to say, even when it's nothing interesting. I think what I like best about reading his interviews is when he says something I totally disagree with. It just kind of reminds you how even stars say dumb stuff, they're human like all of us.
Most BW actor interviews are sadly
like this parody someone posted (I love the Amitabh Bachchan-bit & the film title "Where Are The Babes Yaar?").
4. I don't want to see any Bobby or Sunny Deol films because I like to live in the belief that anything 50% Dharmendra can't be all bad.
Esha has my sympathies because she's so pretty and a good dancer and I have faith that we'll see her grow as an actress, eventually. But Bobby and Sunny, god, I just want to avoid seeing their films as long as I possibly can. Maybe I'll make some sort of an agreement with myself that until I've seen every film Dharmendra has been in (okay, I will avoid his post-mid-80's movies because I have a tickle those will be painful to watch), I will not see a film with his sons in it.
5. Akshay Kumar is Bollywood's Chuck Norris.
Now where the hell are the Akshay Kumar facts? Actually, I don't know. I've never really been sure what to think of Akshay Kumar. On one hand, gotta give him major props for being where he is without being born with a silver spoon in his mouth like the 95% of all BW stars. On the other hand, I'm not desperately seeking out the films he's been in. Then again, I don't really *mind* watching him. He does a good job overall. He's not good-looking but in certain pictures, he can actually look pretty nice. He has that frontal sweater that is unlike any and he's done some really ridiculous movies but then again, he's made it this far, hasn't he?
I just don't know what to think of Akshay Kumar. So in that way, he's not Bollywood's Chuck Norris. He's way, way more puzzling.
6. I used to think all of the Sen girls of the industry (and Reema of the Tamil/Telugu scene & now in Malamaal Weekly) were related. Regardless, I think they're all pretty gorgeous - in a very marketable way but still. I think Raima Sen (from Parineeta and Dus) is the prettiest of them all, though. She's so adorable, can't wait to see her in Eklavya.
7. I really like Suniel Shetty and I have no idea why.
8. (Somewhat related to #1) Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao are quite simply the cutest couple ever.
They just are.
9. I really doubt Aishwarya Rai will ever "make it" outside India. Not because the "West isn't ready for an Indian star", but because Aishwarya Rai is not a good actress. I just saw the Mistress of Spices trailer. Her performance just looked painful.
10. I really wish the Fanaa album had Udit singing for Aamir. I associate Saif with Shaan a bit too much. :/
Public because I feel like it.
