Let's Get the Meh Over With
This episode had some things that quite honestly irked me a bit. First of all, Martin/Karen. I want to like this ship, okay? I can't, if Martin's being a bastard and generally unlikable. Make him likable again, dammit. I don't care if it means making him still crush on Caroline, anything to stop him from becoming Guy Lite ("Twice the arsehole, without any lovable arrogance!"). Gahhh.
Also, remind me why Angela is in this show, again? She has no purpose. I love the actress, I loved her in Smack The Pony and Coupling sooooo much, but Sarah Alexander's character is just useless and annoying in this show. Her only purpose is to bring down Caroline's self-esteem and honestly? Caroline is doing just fine doing that herself.
What else, hmm, well, some people in the ___greenwing community didn't like Mac because he was a bit of an arsehole to Caroline and while it just made my heart sink a bit, I didn't mind him that much. He was like Mac in early S1, to be honest. But slightly different. Yeah, I don't know.. There was something a bit off about him, I'll admit.
Also, the banana-thing? Did not it find that funny. Don't know why but I just didn't.
Great, Good, Goodness
- "Good mummy!"
- Alan overall. He's so desperate for Joanna. It kills me.
- GUY. MAC. Guy/Mac. Etc.
- Joanna overall. I loved the therapist session, I can't remember the therapist dude's name (meaning actor) but I love him, too. Just wonderful.
- Guy's evaluation thingy. He sounds so ungrateful. "And also thank you ..for the music.. The songs I'm singing."
- Boyce, for once, getting pwned by Alan. FOR ONCE! Confescatio! The Harry Potter fan inside me squeed.
- Caroline's desperation. I love the scene where she goes to the bathroom with the memory loss guy and then shoves him when he's like "Hmm, wonder why he wouldn't want to remember you." Aww, poor girl.
- Caroline/Mac/Guy scenes. In the surgery room (brings back memories!) and then the Five Qualities thing.
- The Alan/Mac exchange. Holy crap. Just too good.
- Guy calling Kim "Jizzabella". And the whole exchange in the cafeteria with him and Martin. Ahh, innuendo.
Shippety Ship Shippen
- Alan/Boyce!!! "Slight feathery to the touch.. Just a subjective thing." And the slap, hahaha. Boyce looked pretty dumbstruck. Such funny scenes with these two. "21st of Can.."
- Guy/Mac. See subject of post. Also, the whole "You should give me six"-exchange, so much love. That's just so them, you know. Best friends, worst enemies. "Great to have you back." "No, it's great for you to have me back." "On my team." "On my team!" And the shpoon of deshtiny & the bike ride home. Yeah, baby.
- Caroline/Mac. Man, they're torturing us. And they're going to torture us some more as the series continues. Bastards. I hate love hate love it. Okay, I did think the scene where she sang The Kinks was a bit awkward but only because Caroline usually is.
- Guy/Caroline. It's so wrong it's right. "I am very sensitive." "You are not!" "Er, touch me down there and see what happens." God I'd kick Guy's ass if I were her, though.
- Guy/Sue. Small scene, but precious.
Even though I had some complaints about these developments, I have to say, I was laughing 95% of the time. Even at the stuff I didn't like so much, it was still great.
This show makes me so happy. :D
