The Avril Game is basically a fanfiction challenge. A song per week, lyrics posted, mp3 posted, and folk write fic for multiple fandoms. Whatever they like, basically. The songs aren't songfics, they're merely inspired by the songs and you don't need to listen to the songs to understand the fics. No crappy "Sk8er Boi"-fics here, no sir.
Fics I've really liked so far:
Prologue by lalejandra HP, Ron, Harry, Hermione. - Wildly interesting in terms of telling a very big story in very little words. This is what it's about. Challenges, baby.
You Take What You Get by annakovsky The Office UK, Tim/Dawn, PG. - Wistful and woeful and this is the fic I tried to write but couldn't, but that no longer matters because here it is, and it just works.
Grease is the way we are feeling by lalejandra Grease, Rizzo, Danny, Leo, Kenickie, R. - I got curious and this was good. And let's face it, if you're going to write fic about Grease, who're you going to write about? Rizzo is the best character in the musical, period.
Vol. One of the Encyclopedia Self-Destructica by annakovsky The Simpsons, Lenny/Carl, PG. - Angst and longing. There can never be too much of this, I swear to god. And this pairing? Canon, bitches. Love it.
