So, she's walking home from the bus stop.
She'd left her friend at the stop before; she's known this friend since she was 13, and her friend was transfering to another bus to get back home, having taken the same bus to send Her home. It's been a good day and she's smiling; the night is getting a little cooler and she's thinking about what she's going to do when she gets home.
Her ipod is playing Jack's Mannequin instead of MCR. It's playing MFEO. the song transits from Pt 1 to Pt 2... the piano solo begins, and she smiles.
You can breathe, you can breathe now..
You can breathe but the air is running out
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe but the air is running out on you...
She feels a raindrop on her skin, and looks up at the sky.
You waited for me in the rain in the parking lot
Cold hands, lips blue, clothes stuck to you
The shadow of the raindrops makes her realise it's raining. The little dots start to cover up the gravel.
You could have phoned me for a ride it's a mess out there
You said the rain's the rain
Some air'd do you good
(You can breathe, you can breathe now)
It's drizzling now. She looks at her bag of books and is concerned. She's halfway down the street to home. Should she run or call her father for the car?
It'd be good for you
(You can breathe, but the air is running out)
The rain is getting heavier. She is irritated by the rain drops. Should she run?
You get in my car where its warm
You cannot forget skin new, hands true
My hands all over you
She smiles when she realises what she's listening to.
She starts to sing along, ducking under the shade of the trees to avoid some of the rain drops.
So what's another night, the seats rolled back
We can't see through
The rains, the rain
Some air'd do you good.
She's mouthing the word, smiling and swinging her bag. She looks up at the sky and the raindrops fall on her face. She stretches her arms out and laughs. She wants to twirl around.
You can breathe, you can breathe now..
You can breathe but the air is running out
She walks up to the road junction and checks that there are no cars before running across the street.
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe but the air is running out on you...
And you walked for miles down
She sings along to the song. She can't hear herself; the headphones are too loud. But she knows she's singing out loud, and slightly off key, and wonders if any of the neighbours will hear.
The shores of California to the coast of Mexico
Where you could hide and no one'd have to know.
She takes a while fishing for her key. Her charm from Japan drops out of the bag into the rain. She wonders if it's a good or bad omen; stops and picks it up.
You can breathe, you can breathe now..
You can breathe but the air is running out
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe but the air is running out on you...
She runs the last steps to her house, unlocks the gate and run into the house. She's wet by now, but smiling. Her father walks into the kitchen from the table; it's almost time for dinner.
You can breathe, you can breathe now..
You can breathe but the air is running out
You can breathe, you can breathe now
You can breathe but the air is running out on you... (running out on you)
She changes her slippers and washes her feet. Picks up the shopping bag she placed on the parapet, into the house.
She walks into her roonm and waits for the song to end. Her reflection in the mirror shows a wide smile on her face, and dripping, wet hair.
Maybe the world can look like this forever
(You can breathe but the air is running out)
Maybe the world can look like this forever
Maybe the world can look like this forever
(You can breathe but the air is running out)
Maybe the world can look like this forever...
She presses the pause button, unplugs her earphones and charges her ipod. Her hair is wet, and she laughs as she walks into the bathroom for a shower. It's her
favourite song now.
