I think you might benefit from reading Thich Nhat Hahn's book, "No Death, No Fear". I'm glad you are speaking with a new counselor but I'm troubled that you are so fearful of death. Not that death is something to be too interested in, it is nothing to be feared. We manifest the way we do, and when circumstances change, we manifest in different ways. Those we love who we think we have lost are still with us, but in different ways. It is change, to be sure, but not change that is to be feared. We all embrace it in our lives.

But I hope you find peace of mind, deb. Keep working on those relationships. You will find friends to share ideas with. Hang in there.

I fear death all the time, too. And I do mean several times a day. But, I don't fear not being here. What bothers me is that I will indeed die and I will die a certain way and I am afraid of that. How it will be, the pain, and when it will be. Ugh. I have to stop thinking about it now.

I do not believe pain follows us into death. As I have heard, the pain of birth is every bit as unpleasant yet we still have babies. You needn't dwell on death, but quite honestly, it is not something to be feared. If it were that bad, we'd figure out a way not to die.
