ooc: Canon update info [spoilers]
This isn't a real post but it's just to explain that Faith is going home for a canon update. I've been able to read the comics and when she's back you'll get Faith from Buffy season 8 - No Future For You.

In No Future For You, Faith and Robin have split up, Faith's in Cleveland staking vampires when Giles comes to her and asks her to do one last mission - the assassination of a Slayer named Gigi. Faith agrees so long as she gets to 'retire' from Slayer life and Giles says he'll give her what she wants which is a passport and a generous stipend. Faith accepts and finds out that the target is actually British and from high society so Giles teaches her in how to blend in. There's also a point where Faith has a flashback of the events in Graduation Day from her point of view. She goes to Gigi's party and throws her earpiece link to Giles away before acting like a snooty rich girl to get in. Roden - Gigi's warlock - instructs his gargoyles to watch Faith at the party. Later, when Faith is outside smoking and deciding to go back in and kill Gigi with the knife in her hair, Gigi startles her and they smoke, chatting about family and life while Faith slowly pulls the knife from her hair. Roden however uses his gargoyles to lift her from the ground but manages to deal with them resulting in her fainting. She wakes up and talks to Gigi with Gigi saying she plans to kill the Queen. When Faith asks if she means Elizabeth, Gigi opens her closet showing many pictures of Buffy with the symbol of twilight. After discovering this, Faith realises that Giles sent her to save Buffy rather than saving the world from a rogue Slayer [Faith believed that was the actual mission] but she still continues with the assignment and convinces Gigi that she's on her side. Gigi and Roden transport Buffy from Scotland to their stately home and Gigi and Buffy fight while Faith watches from a balcony. Buffy defeats Gigi but as she's about to deliver the killing blow, Roden prepares to attack Buffy with magic but Faith leaps into the fight. Buffy accuses her of switching sides even though Faith tries to convince her otherwise and she attacks Faith. In the ensuing battle Faith almost drowns Buffy in a swimming pool before coming to her senses in time. Willow teleports Buffy back to Scotland leaving Faith alone and shaken.
The time frame here is sort of vague but it'll be roughly a year and Faith's issues will be far nearer the surface but she'll be more willing to talk to the few she likes once she remembers the house again. More happens after this but it's even more spoilery and takes place after the point Faith is coming back from. Wiki is your friend [or me on AIM] if you want to know more.
