Currently at Downtown St. Louis (Part One)
I’m now in St. Louise, and wow do these old buildings look rough! Some of them have clearly been around for ages, and the one that my sister is thinking of getting a loft/apartment in has been around since 1929 or so. (The chick showing us around said it used to be a hotel. I’m going to work on researching the history, since I may be visiting with my sister for a week or so at a time throughout the year.)
The 1929 year thing made me think of (ha ha) Steve Rogers. Though I *think* he was from the 40’s? I dunno, exactly. Can someone help me out there? I’m thinking of writing a fic of him being back in the past, and dealing with a ghost or something? Who’s interested in that?
Also, anyone interested in The History of St. Louise, Missouri? As I am researching it whenever I am online for more than a few minutes, because it’s fascinating. Apparently, too, I’ve learned that St. Louise is one of the cities in America that almost became bankrupt, and it certainly looks it. I’ve seen at least two homeless shelters downtown (so sad!), and a lot of really run-down old buildings that have collapsed/gone out of business/are up for sale/etc. It’s a pretty sad picture here, but the history and the place that my sister is looking into is very fascinating.
We may be spending the night in St. Louise, due to my sisters’ reconnaissance. More updates to come, right now we’re fixing to get some lunch because it’s nearly three o’clock in the afternoon, and we’re HUNGRY, lol.
