To Moscow? To Moscow!

To be brief, because my time is running out at this smoke filled internet cafe, I will say that Russia is pretty interesting thus far. Well, I actually haven't seen too much, since we have been in orientation. I did have an interesting experience, however, trying to contact my friend here. I called the wrong number and ended up chatting with the guy at the other end of the line. He insisted that I have a beautiful voice and that we must meet. I tried multiple times to just hang up the phone, but he was busy trying to get my cell number, which, naturally, I did not have. He didn't realize that I was American until he asked what I did and I said that I was a student. That was reassuring. Everyone else here, however, knows right away that I am NOT a Russian devushka. Bummer.
The city is quite beautiful in its off-hand Eastern European way. I am excited for our tour of the art museum this afternoon.
I also found out some about my host family. I live in the academic part of Irkutsk with a babushka, who works for an institute of some sort. She has a daughter, who is attending the university. Maybe this means that I will have a podruga! That would be really exciting. Just a day and a half remaining in Moscow. I'm sure it will be interesting, especially if we go to clubs...but don't expect drunken tales. Too dangerous.
