I have a lot of Hemp/Cotton worsted weight yarn on hand and planned to knit dishcloths.
Unfortunately, it's very stiff and hurts my hands when I knit it.
So I decided to create some weaving samples.
This is just the first batch. I still have the Hemp/Cotton warp on the Cricket
and will photograph the others when I complete them.

I bought some recycled Sari Ribbon at Stitches South with a scarf in mind.
The first one I wave was too wide so I took what was left and made a narrower one
which I wore last week with a white cotton blouse. It's was just what I needed for a little color.

First, I played with the little rigid heddle loom. Then I got myself a little vintage Weave-It Loom. These little hand-held looms were first made in the 30s and popular up through the 70s. You can easily find them on Ebay but may pay a steep price. I asked about them on the small loom yahoo group list and someone offered me one for $15 including ( Read more... )
