That's all I've got to say about today.
Holiday.
Firstly thanks to the asses who did the LJ attack. Meant I had very little to catch up when we got back on Friday ;)
So, Tuesday we headed down to the Isle of Wight. Which was epic on it's own - a fire at Petersfield (I think) knocked out the signals there so (after our journey down south started) that line got closed. So we made it as far as Guildford before doubling back to Woking and then back down again on the Basingstoke line (non stop to Havant) which was interesting. Only added an hour to our overall travel time though. Got to the Island around 3pm, checked into hotel and headed off on a Random Bus Ride. Ended up in Sandown (I was looking for cheap sandals) for a little while before heading back to Ryde for dinner (Hong Kong Express, top notch grub!) and then crashed.
Wednesday we went West on the Island, first to Yarmouth onto an open topped bus to Alum Bay. Spent most of the afternoon in the Needles park, went on the chairlift and a boat ride out to the Needles and the Sweet Factory "how we do it" thing. All great fun, much was bought (and is slowly being eaten!). Also got the Sandals I was after in Newport. Spent FAR more than I intended on them so they became yet another thing that I would have to drag home on Friday (I REALLY didn't think that through!). Back to HKE for dinner then a walk down the Esplanade for a Costa and to see the sunset!
Thursday was MY BIRTHDAY!!! :D:D:D
We went back to Sandown to the Zoo for my amazingly awesome Birthday pressie from Mum. She had paid for me to have a Tiger Feed Experience. We were taken round the back of the enclosures by Ben the rather sexy keeper and I was handed a huge spray bottle of Goats Milk. We started with Zia and Zena. Zia was straight over and looooved the milk. Her sister eventually got up and came over for milk as well. After about half a bottle and much doting we moved on to Diamond and Aysha. And I fell hopelessly in love with Diamond. He is beautiful. Though HUGE. Ben persuaded him to rear up against the cage, I had to have my arm right up to reach his mouth (though I WAS leaning back a bit, well you would to!). Aysha eventually got out of the pond long enough to get some milk as well - though Diamond was trying to shove her out the way the whole time she was drinking. We had a little left after them so we ended up at Rajiv who was gorgeous as well (and apparently has his eye on Zena and Zia in the enclosure next door). There's a whole bunch of pictures
here on Facebook - most taken by Ben.
From the Zoo we went for lunch at a little tea room in Shanklin Old Village - picked because there is a picture in existence of me there when I was THREE! We then went a wandering down the Chine and out onto the beach for a little while (including paddling in the sea!). Back to Ryde and the HKE (eating less each day because omg so full of food!).
Friday we came home :(
But went on the Downs tour open bus, which was WINDY!
All in all an amazing few days, was lovely to get away properly.
