So... Bambi and his mom tried to kill me at ten to seven this morning. I was driving to work and then, out of nowhere, they come running. I obviously slam on my breaks as Bambi's Mom makes it across just fine. Bambi, who was running after her, apparently got really, really freaked out and PLOWED into the front of the car, sending himself rolling over about four times.
I seriously thought I'd killed the little bastard before he hopped up and hurried back off into the woods. The car is pretty much fine. The grid on the front of it was knocked out and a thing was out of place, but I was able to pop them back in when I got home. There's some fur stuck to the front of it, but other than that, nothing happened at all.
I'm happy I had my pent hanging from my mirror and my totem in my purse. It could have been a damn sight more expensive to fix.
I adore my new class so far. They are absolute darlings compared to the class I started with on Wednesday, who seem kind of jerky and judgemental. I'm trying to withhold judgement until I've had more time to get to know them though. I mean I DID step in mid semester and suddenly am changing things. I'd be kind of annoyed at that professor too, even though it wouldn't be her fault. ...Actually that happened in Laura's Undergrad class, though I was nice to her and polite in class anyway. Um, I love the adjunct office and the faculty restroom is pretty nice as well. I think I like this teaching thing. Mostly.
I also will need to kill a few minutes of class with the second bunch. Can anyone think of any fun activities? I'm going to be making something for grammar using Cake Wrecks eventually but probably not for Wednesday. So far, we've done a classmate interview and paragraph assignment, an overview of how to brainstorm for a paper with attached paragraph, and I've gone over some assignments in class, along with the syllabus on the first day. We WERE going to have reading today, but apparently no one could access the webpage. I showed them how in class today, and I've come up with some discussion questions for the essays I had them read. I figure we can work in small groups and then come together as a class to share the answers, but I'll need to do a bit more to fill the hour and a half that makes up class. I project this to last around fifty minutes, so I'll need forty more. I was thinking perhaps a handout on how to outline if I can come up with a good one. That should buy me around twenty minutes, leaving twenty to fill. I found some awesome tips I can use to create this outline. After this, I have guidelines for our first paper and how we're going to do it and then the homework assignment for Monday's class.
Anyone have any other ideas of "fun" things we can do? I really want these guys to like me and to think I'm cool.
