My Career, My Life

I love theatre! Preview was great--they laughed at some of my lines.... I didn't think they would. Opening night was fabulous. I was emotionally all there and having an audience that responds feels so amazing. How could I have thought for even a moment that I could ever give this up?
The party afterwards was really nice. Free alcohol, entering the room to a round of applause, random strangers coming up to me to congratulate me... and DOG TAGS! 3 of the cast members got the same dog tags we got for our tech crew as presents for the whole cast. So sweet.
A few of us stuck around after the party. Table dancing and debauchery ensued. I love these people, they're so awesome.
So, I got home at 3am and figured working today would not be a good thing, so I called in and told Rosemary that I wasn't available in the AM, figuring the odds were slim that there would be an afternoon coverage available, but just in case...
So I got to sleep in and still got to work this afternoon. 2/3 the pay for 2 1/2 hours instead of 7 hours of work. Not bad.
If this is the life I can have in the theatre, I'll take it. I love the performing, the rush, the audience, the parties, the late nights, the late mornings... This is my chosen lifestyle. Now just to make it work.
