dvd commentary by yours truly

The dvd-commentary challenge is running through the end of the month (Hint to your subconscious-- you don't really need to sleep! Go commentate something! Sidenote-- seriously, spellcheck? Commentate is a word? I thought I sort-of made it up. English, you are crazy. And now back to your regularly scheduled whatever the fuck it was I was talking about.) I didn't really intend to participate, but it sort of just happened. (There had been a big long explanation of exactly how that happened, but then I got bored writing it and I figured that wasn't a good sign for any of you caring to read it.)

Hmm, I guess I'll repost the headers here, on account of I love headers. Redoing the format a bit, since some of these were under cut at the comm.

Fandom, Etc.: SPN, Slashy Crackfic, Humor, PG-13, 1834 words (story), ~3600 words (story + commentary), Spoilers through S4, Hints of Castiel/Dean, Sam/Lucifer
Summary: Dean doesn't know quite what he expected from the Apocalypse, but this sure as hell wasn’t it.
Author Notes: I'm pretty sure I get to blame
fish_echo for this one. /Yep, totally my fault!/ And I quote: Dean, your psyche is all messed up. Why don't you go turn into a kitten for a week, or a unicorn! (in response to this story /Which is a great post-Hell Dean character study. Go read it! Then come back here and read this for the happy crack!/) Sometimes I am RIDICULOUSLY SUSCEPTIBLE to the power of suggestion. JSYK!! Other than that, I will say that I am completely spoiler-free for S5 and thus the part of Lucifer for our purposes will be played by The Welling. That is all. /Personally, I think this is a hysterical casting choice./
Commentator Notes: /Blah, blah, blah, yes the stuff with the odd formatting is me babbling. I hope the formatting is readable to everyone (it works for me, but then again, a sample size of one is hardly significant), if not, let me know. More boring ramblings redacted./

Verdict on doing a dvd-commentary of someone else's fic: Fun. It makes me think a bit more critically about the fic, which I enjoy. I like that I can do it in bits and pieces (similar to how I work on rec sets), which makes it easier to work on than writing fic. But I like reccing and ficcing more. Which I suppose sums up to: would commentary again but I'm unlikely to become some sort of perpetual commentator.
