My first attempt at Mount Mitchell was kind of thwarted by the weather. But on the way down (once we got beneath the clouds) it was stunning. [Highest point east of the Mississippi and south of Canada at 6,684 ft)



startled a herd of deer (the smart ones hang out in the no hunting zone of the Parkway).
