So, I just finished watching A Very Special Love (with subtitles!), which is the first John Lloyd Cruz film I've watched that doesn't have Bea Alonzo in it, and... well, I loved it. A lot. It was super adorable and everything I had expected it to be (actually, it was more than I expected seeing as how it made me burst into tears in a couple of parts. It mostly made me giggle though, and naturally I adored the Ugly Betty-ish plot. And JLC was ridiculously gorgeous in this). Anyway, I was reading old news articles on John Lloyd and Bea (because I am a geek like that), and I came across a few that said it was rumored that Bea was threatened by the popularity of the John Lloyd Cruz/Sarah Geronimo team-up, and I have to say, as much as I loved the film, and as adorable as I found the pairing, they just don't hold a candle to the chemistry that John Lloyd and Bea have. NOT EVEN CLOSE. In fact, they seemed to have better chemistry during the bloopers than the actual film (which seems to be the opposite of John Lloyd and Bea). That being said, I can still see why that team-up would be the most threatening to Bea, because they were adorable, but when he's acting with Bea it seems like they can read each other's minds or something, they are just so in tune with each other and natural and they're like big kids when they're around each other, and just... THEY'RE SO CUTE.

I'm currently in the middle of watching their scenes from the very first soap that they did together (Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay), and even there they just light up around each other and seem so natural, and apparently back then they barely even spoke to each other when the cameras weren't rolling (they didn't even become friendly with each other until they did Now That I Have You). That's just... mind boggling, though comparing their earlier performances to the ones from that film on you can definitely see a slight change in their interactions (they become more touchy feely/horse around more/giggle uncontrollably and do the sneak attack kisses way more often). With their first soap, it does feel like they're just getting to know each other and they're surprised at how much they click (which could just be the characters, but the evolution of their performances throughout the years is interesting to watch).

John Lloyd and Bea will always own my heart, is what I'm saying.

Anyway, reading through the articles was quite amusing since a lot of them are so tinhatty, one of them even predicted that John Lloyd and Bea would get together by 2006, which couldn't have been more wrong. *sigh* I think what I love about them is that they do have that BFF chemistry and there doesn't seem to be any danger of them crossing over that line, which means there's less chance of real life drama between them, which means they'll get to be the ultimate love team forever and ever (which is why I'm perfectly happy about them never hooking up in real life, especially since John Lloyd seems to move through his costars pretty quickly. Bea seems to be the only one that he hasn't hooked up with. Psh. I am still balking at the fact that he wooed the girl that played Daniela on I ♥ Betty la Fea, because good god is she a terrible actress. But I am guessing that he was dazzled by her beauty and not her talent). But yeah, their chemistry is pure adorableness, and I don't want that to change. Look, even in this terrible, terrible variety show clip, they are so much more natural than the other love teams (because they're not trying to fake that they're in love, they're just being their dorky selves):

Speaking of these weird shows where the love teams are always required to sing, what is up with their voices always changing? I saw one that clearly, clearly did not match John Lloyd and Bea's voices at all and it was just ridiculous, and even in this vid that really didn't sound like Bea, and they are all clearly lip-synching, so... couldn't they at least get good voices to lip-sync to? I mean, what the hell? Anyway, I find this whole concept of love teams fascinating, and I kind of wish we had something like that in America (variety shows and mall concerts included!) because that would be awesome. The whole marketing scheme reminds me a lot of how The Disney Channel builds up its own brand of stars, so it would basically be like that, only for adults. Of course, the downside here is that there are very few romantic films made in America that I actually enjoy.

Alright, alright, I'll stop rambling about Filipino love teams for a moment and get back to that daily TV meme that I was doing last week:

The 30 Day TV Meme
Day 08 - A show everyone should watch

I want to say either Community or Modern Family. Modern Family probably has a greater chance of mass appeal, so I'll go with that one, because I really can't imagine anyone not loving it.

CAM AND MITCHELL OWN MY SOUL. CLEARLY THEY ARE THE ULTIMATE LOVE TEAM OF AMERICA.

Day 09 - Best scene ever

This is impossible to answer. I... it's... AUGH, I DON'T KNOW. I LOVE TOO MANY SCENES OF TOO MANY THINGS.
