Psych!
Okay, that episode was pretty good, aside from the Shawn angst (seriously dudes, Shawn angst is worse than Jack Harkness angst. Stop making my silly characters angsty, damn it!) But anyway, things I liked:
1. Lots of Juliet and Lassiter doing synchronized poses.
2. Shawn specifically listed Gus as a reason not to leave. CLEARLY GUS IS HIS ONE TRUE LOVE. THIS PROVES IT.
3. Gus. Always Gus. GUS IS AMAZING.
4. Am I crazy or did Lassiter call Juliet by her first name in that interaction with Shawn and Gus? I'm not positive, didn't even really notice it till the commercial break and the scene was replaying in my head, so I may have just been imagining things, but if he did use her first name, then clearly they are having an affair. (shut up, I can be delusional if I want to)
5. Lassiter was SO jealous about Shawn/Abigail. Much more so than Juliet was, which was kind of hilarious. Now, I can take this and fanwank it into Lassiter/Juliet and say that Juliet totally confided in him and cried on his shoulder about the whole "I love you" thing during the last finale, and so Lassiter was offended on Juliet's behalf and wanted to punch Shawn in the face for being such an insensitive jerk. Or, you know, he just wants Shawn for himself. I WILL TAKE EITHER EXPLANATION.
6. THE SMILE! THE SMILE AT THE END! Lassiter is still totally crushing on her. IT'S STILL THERE! LASSITER/JULIET LIVES! It's just that we only get little subtle snippets now as opposed to the heaps of goodness that we got in the second half of season 2. *sigh* I don't think I'll ever be able to get over season 2. It was so perfect! There was so much Shawn/Gus and Lassiter/Juliet romantic subtext happening! It was all happytimes! And now it is all Shawn angsting and Juliet angsting and serious music and I just want to barf. But Lassiter and Gus still bring me glee. As do Lassiter/Juliet when they actually share scenes together. And dialogue! They actually said whole sentences to each other there at the end!
In conclusion, I still love everything I've always loved about Psych, and the stuff that's always annoyed me about Psych still annoys me.
OH! Also, while I was flipping through channels I caught a show called The Inbetweeners on BBC America, and this show was so freaking hilarious, OMG. I saw the name and it rang a bell but I didn't know why, and then Anthony Head's daughter popped up and I was like, "Oh yeah!" And then I remembered that interview where ASH said they expected The Invisibles to be the more successful show out of the two, and... I'm sorry, ASH, I love you loads, but The Inbetweeners is freaking BRILLIANT, while The Invisibles was... mediocre at best. Which is sad, because it's pretty much the only show where ASH has ever been the main star, but seriously, NO CONTEST. The Inbetweeners had me laughing up a storm constantly through the whole thing. It's vulgar and ridiculous, but somehow clever. I can't even explain it. I just know that I need to see more episodes.
