Since I FAIL at being an awesome friend and didn't get that Damian picspam up, I will instead do a couple memes. First though, thank you to all who have commented on the
honesty meme! I LOVE YOU! Also, just so you know, I may go through my fandoms like water, but you all are constants. No matter what I move onto, I swear I won't leave you behind. &hearts YOU ARE STUCK WITH ME! FOREVER! Or at least until you cut me from your flist... Also, you all know I'm not great with the personal/emotional posts, right? I never know what to say, but just know that I'm always reading and will always be there for you, even if I suck at saying the right things. But I love you. &hearts
Also, before I get to the memes, I just have to mention that I went back and reread the
Giles/Buffy manifesto since I've now seen everything discussed in it, and I can't believe that I missed the bed in Giles' dream in Restless. HOW? HOW DID I MISS IT?
IT WAS THE ONLY THING LEFT IN HIS APARTMENT OTHER THAN HIM AND BUFFY! WHAT THE... HOW COULD I MISS THIS BIT OF SUBTEXT? ME! THE PERSON WHO SQUEEZES SUBTEXT OUT OF ANYTHING! I feel so ashamed. I mean, I knew that beginning bit was kinky, but wow. THE BED! Along with the words, "You have to stop thinking. Let it wash over you." Um... Giles telling himself to embrace his Buffy love? Stop thinking about right and wrong and just let his love wash through him? "Don't you think it's a little old-fashioned?" Not sure what to think about this line. Possibly the idea that an older man falling in love with a woman half his age is cliche. "This is the way women and men have behaved since the beginning, before time," that line being said just as the camera cuts to the bed being the only furniture left in the apartment except for Buffy's chair. "Now look into the light," and we hear Buffy laugh playfully and she is just so genuinely happy and innocent and beautiful and at peace there and as
llivla said in one of her posts, this is probably how Giles views Buffy most of the time. As he says "Now look into the light," the camera focuses on Buffy instead of the light, and this, to me, is basically saying that Buffy is his light. She is his everything. And then the dream transitions into Buffy being a sort of child and he's indulging her, and then he starts telling her everything she's doing wrong and he's being all tough on her, and even though this bit is showing him and Olivia and Buffy as a family, Olivia is still an outsider who doesn't understand Giles' treatment of Buffy, and the entire time he never even touches Olivia whereas in the beginning he's holding Buffy's hand and she's just dragging him along with her, and even when they break apart Giles and Olivia are still standing very seperately and she's looking at him curiously. Then later it goes to the Spike bit and he tells Giles to figure out his priorities before he misses everything (meaning his life will pass him by) and Giles makes the flimsy excuse that he's got a lot to do, and he looks over at a crying Olivia and has no clue what to do about it and actually sees her as an irritant because he is SO focused on Buffy. Even in the bit at the nightclub he talks about having his own gig but his own gig still has everything to do with Buffy since he sings his summation. EVERYTHING is about Buffy for him. And the beginning of that dream pretty much canonically confirms that the Giles/Buffy relationship is MUCH more than familial. At least, his feelings for her are. They never cross that line, but the feelings are there. WHY DID I NOT SEE THE BED SOONER? ARGH! Right, I just went on about that dream way longer than I meant to. That's my third time talking about that silly dream. BUT IT CONFIRMED THE FACT THAT GILES HAS SEXY TIME FEELINGS ABOUT BUFFY! SO I AM NOT CRAZY!
Okay, onto the memes (both stolen from

What fandoms did you acquire in 2008?
Life, Damian Lewis, House, Burn Notice, Gossip Girl, In Plain Sight, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The West Wing, True Blood, Merlin, Anthony Head, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 'Twas a busy TV year.
What fandoms did you let go of in 2008?
House. I know I acquired it in 2008, but I also let go of it because the latest season just wasn't doing it for me. PI Guy became my only reason for watching. Once he was gone, my enjoyment went with him. So I gave up. I may go back to it though.
What fandoms did you intend on checking out in 2008 but didn't?
Smallville. I'LL GET TO IT EVENTUALLY!
What fandoms do you intend to check out in 2009?
Smallville, Dollhouse, anything with Anthony Head
What fandoms do you think you might let go of in 2009 if things don't improve?
I have trouble letting go of anything. I guess I'll say Monk since it'll be going into its last season soon anyway. But... I'll watch it till the end. I've stuck with it through all of its crappy years, so I'm going to watch it to the end, damn it!
What fandoms do you think you'll never get rid of no matter how crappy they get?
Ugly Betty. I love complaining about it way too much. But so far season 3 has been awesome.
What show impressed you most in 2008?
Ugly Betty both disappointed me the most and impressed me the most. Season 2 blew chunks, and then season 3 came and was at the top of its game (except for the Lindsay Lohan eps, but I tend to block those from my memory). Also, Life season 1 blew me away like no show has ever done, it was perfection. Also, Buffy the Vampire Slayer shocked me, because I seriously had no idea what an awesome show it was.
What show impressed you least in 2008?
The Office. :'( What happened, show? You used to be so good to me. One week I love you and the next I hate you with a fiery passion. I miss the days when you just made me happy.

ETA: Oh, also, watching the Buffy episodes that don't have Giles are basically torture. I'm thinking I should just skip to the season 6 finale and move onto season 7, because I find nothing fascinating about season 6 since Giles left. I thought I'd get into Spike/Buffy, and I did for about 1 episode (the one where they beat each other up and then did each other) but then it was just... blah. He's her drug, I get it. Now it's just kind of tiresome. Willow continues to be annoying (I miss the old, non-crybaby Willow). The geeks being the villain is the stupidest plot ever created and so uninteresting that I can't stand it. Buffy working at Double Meat is just as boring to watch as it sounds. I... really want to skip the rest. Buffy really is a mess without Giles, and it feels like everything she does with Spike is a result of Giles abandoning her and I can't help but feel a little angry at Giles for that. So... does anything important happen between ep 6x11 and the finale? Because it really is torture. The only good things left are Xander and Anya.
