LET'S RING IN SOME
HONESTYWITH THE NEW YEAR THE MEME
Come on, you know you want to. Tell me how much you love me, because I know you do. Or tell me how conceited I am.
Anyway, I finished up The Invisibles yesterday because I just could not stop watching that beautiful man, and it ended up being a pretty cute show. And when Maurice (apparently that's his name, not Morris. Psh, whatever, they all pronounced it as Morris) was so super jealous over Syd falling in love I kind of melted. I mean, he was being such a selfish jerk, but it was so adorable!!! HE WANTED SYD ALL TO HIMSELF! And he didn't want to see Syd's heart get broken yet again. And Syd always chooses Maurice over anyone else, even when he tries to do differently, he can't. And Maurice's jealousy over his wife getting flirty with that rich dude was just plain sexy. And I love how she thinks Maurice is so gorgeous and brilliant that he's just plain insane for thinking that he'd ever have any competition. &hearts The show was a bit too randomly dramatic about the most ridiculous things, but overall it was fairly enjoyable. Well, a lot enjoyable, but mostly because of Anthony Head's utter sexiness. And he goes shirtless at the end of every episode. Oh yes. Every ep ends with a hot tub scene of bro-bonding, and my mind kept going to Boston Legal and how that show always ended with a balcony scene of bromance, so I couldn't help but be fond of the show purely for that. Also, the last ep, there's a moment that was supposed to be hugely dramatic and I'm pretty sure it was supposed to illicit tears but... I couldn't understand a word that Syd was saying. Not a word. His accent is the one I had the most trouble understanding, but when his speech was slurred by booze and tears and a big lip, I really couldn't understand a thing. Maurice's complete jerkiness to him before this bit made me sadder than Syd's big confession. HE WAS SO MEAN! I've never been that angry at Anthony Head before. Even as Mr. I Kill Everyone Uther he's never that hurtful. But when Maurice was faced with the thought of actually losing Syd, he gets some sense knocked into him and I melted into a big puddle of goo when he said, "That my heart beats at all, Syd... it wouldn't if you weren't around." Gah, SO BEAUTIFUL! Also, I love that in one of the episodes when Maurice's wife finds out he's back to being an Invisible she tells him to be careful because she doesn't want him to grow old alone, and he says, "Don't you worry about that. If I get banged up I'll take Syd down with me," and that comforts her perfectly. Bwahahahaha. Oh, I love it. Also, the ep where he was so determined to not let Hedley leave the gang had the slasher in me excited, and I love that it was just Hedley being Hedley that made Maurice realize what an utter jerk and coward he is and he ended up risking his neck to save Hedley and be the man he wanted to be. *sniff* And then the big hug at the end. &hearts Love it! Also, the scenes with Anthony Head's daughter, I couldn't help but go "Awwwwww, that's his daughter! Look at how much she looks like him! Look at how much they love each other! Awwwwww," so I can't really judge her acting abilities since I was too busy squeeing over Tony being an awesome father. My patheticness should embarrass me, but sadly it does not. Also,
lookie what I found last night. A MAURICE/HEDLEY FIC! HELL YES! Bwahahahaha. That's probably the only fic in existence for this show and it was the pairing I wanted. VICTORY! Hee. I find it odd though that I slashed Maurice/Hedley because usually I go for the ones that are the most emotionally connected (which would be Maurice/Syd), but this time I went for pure hotness. *sigh* And Hedley reminds him of his youth and the show was big on avoiding old age by reliving their youth. Anyway, the fact that a Maurice/Hedley fic actually exists amuses me.
So, The Invisibles was an adorable show, but it probably should have just stuck to comedy and let the dramatic bits be much more subtle, especially in the very last ep, which was SO ridiculous that the drama was extra random. The acting was wonderful, the relationships were wonderful, the comedy after the first ep was wonderful (in the first ep it was way too forced), and the themes were presented in interesting ways. But there was nothing amazing except for Anthony Head's ability to turn me to goo in every single scene. I loved seeing him as a curmudgeonly character who is constantly softened/surprisingly amused by his easy-going, kind-of-a-screw-up sidekick.
Okay, time to start putting together a certain picspam that I promised a certain Bunny back in October or something like that. I suck, because I can't seem to think of anything clever for the picspam. BUT IT WILL HAPPEN ONE DAY! I SWEAR! And it might possibly also contain Anthony Head, because he seems to be my only muse these days. I know this will break Damian's heart, but it's the only way.
ETA: YouTube just took down another one of my Ugly Betty fanvids (my most popular one). DAMN IT! WHY DO THEY EVEN CARE? I AM NOT MAKING ANY MONEY! I AM NOT DISTRIBUTING THE MUSIC! DAMN YOU YOU STUPID MUSIC OWNERS! ARGH! So that is another vid lost forever. So not fair.
