LIFE WAS FUCKING AMAZING! OMG OMG OMG!!!! YOU GUYS! THE INTENSITY! THE INTENSITY THAT I LOVE! Was it ridiculous? Yeeeees, but... that makes it all the more charming. LIFE! OMG! MY HEART IS STILL POUNDING LIKE CRAZY! GAAAAAAAH!
So... do you know when I knew that this episode was kickass? When Rawls' brain was unexpectedly splattered all over the back window of the police car. HOLY CRAP!!!! OMG! THAT WAS OBSCENELY GRAPHIC! AND YET SO FREAKING AWESOME! OMG! HIM YELLING FOR CREWS! THEM NOT BEING ABLE TO SAVE HIM! OOOOOOOOOH MYYYYYY GOOOOOOD! The show isn't usually that graphic. In fact, we always see the after-effects of murder and rarely the during, and when we do see the during, there's usually very little blood. I find it interesting that when we see a bad guy kill, we get brain bits all over the window and a whole lot of blood. When Crews kills? We never see the wound, just their face and Crews' face. Although in Fill it Up did we see some blood? I think we may have. But that was Crews getting in touch with his convict side, so he had to be shown in a grizzly way. Still though, Arthur? Holy crap, they made him a serious badass criminal mastermind, which is just... weird. He was a dumbass in the pilot. Anyway, I loved that scene. A lot. I also really loved Crews tackling Rawls, because, well... it was hot.
Crews made note of Reese's boobs. Apparently he's just now figuring out that she's a woman. I loved Reese's annoyance at that and her acting like he was being stupid. She can take care of herself, cleavage or no cleavage. This was a tiny bit of the old Reese shining through. Except the old Reese rarely showed any cleavage... Anyway, there was some utterly adorable partner banner in this episode and I love it when they're being partnery. Charlie's distress about using his car? And Reese's pure enjoyment in driving his car? Beautiful. Also, Charlie's little exasperated lip flutter when the car gets shot up was so freaking adorable. You knew it was going to happen, but still, he manages to make it hilarious.
Charlie was super badass in this ep, and ridiculously gorgeous, but the winner of this ep? TIDWELL!!!! OMG, I LOVE THAT MAN! SO SO HARD! I loved him FINALLY stepping up and being the commanding officer that he's supposed to be, and I loved him protecting his men (and woman), and his moment of comforting Bobby was so beautiful and it really shows you how he knows how to relate to people. And BOBBY! OMG BOBBY! I was screaming at the TV for him to not answer that phone, and this episode was so full of the shock factor that I seriously feared for his life, but luckily Charlie called out to him just in time, which I should have known would happen, but with this show? You just never know. Oh, Bobby. And dudes, whatever happened to Bobby's partner from season 1? Shouldn't he be with Bobby making sure that he's not sticking his hand into cars that are rigged with bombs? Anyway, back to Tidwell. He was utterly adorable with his earthquake safety. And I'm pretty sure I'd be the same way if I was ever in an earthquake. And I really don't blame Reese for being charmed by his adorableness and vulnerability. Although, really, she was charmed by seeing him take charge during the bomb scene, and mix in vulnerability with that fearlessness, and suddenly he is freaking irresistible. Normally I would say that the show went a little too fast with Tidwell/Reese, but the tension has been mounting since the first ep, and neither one of them are exactly about taking things slowly, so... the kiss made sense. And I love that Reese is still completely baffled by her attraction to him. And I cannot wait to see the awkwardness that ensues after this.
Okay, the last scene with Arthur. Ridiculous to the maximum, but so freakishly entertaining. Actually, even the scene in the armored car warehouse was ridiculous, but this last scene was ridiculous AND overdramatic, yet freakishly entertaining. And I loved Charlie watching Arthur die with that cold look in his eyes. The dialog was a little weak here though. I would have preferred something more badass than "I can't kill you, you're already dead." I would have preferred silence and a cold stare, or a cold "Yes," or something like that.
Ted/Olivia, meh. Took away from the intensity of the episode and felt separate from everything else, same as it did in season 1. I prefer Ted being in the mix with what's going on with Charlie.
CHARLIE IN PLAIN CLOTHES AT THE END OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG SO FREAKING HOT! I guess they're making this a normal thing now? Him in plain clothes at the end? I approve.
In conclusion:
Charlie = HOT!!!
Dani = Awesome
Tidwell = ADORABLE!
Bobby = EEEEEEK NOOOOO DON'T DO THAT BOBBY!
Arthur = Badass thug
Rawls = Splattered on the back window
Ted = Cute on his own in small doses, but he belongs with Charlie, and I'm fairly certain that he's only attracted to Olivia because of the red hair (come on, you know it's true. And dudes, I don't even ship Ted/Charlie, but... Ted's his wife! I have trouble seeing him with other people)
Arthur/Dude that he was with in the armored car = Wanted to make out with each other. Serious manlust vibes between those two.
Me = Blown away, baby!
Also, I just watched the new promo for 30 Rock, and HOLY CRAP! HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP HOLY CRAP! WILL THIS SHOW EVER STOP MAKING ME SO GIDDY? HOLY CRAP! Also, I watched Baby Mama again, this time with my parents, and they enjoyed it. My dad was all against it because he thought it was a chick flick, and then he ended up laughing louder than me and my mom, so... poo on him. His exact words were, "It's two girls and babies, right? Ugh, that's going to be terrible." Afterwards: "Well... that was pretty good. Better than I thought it would be." That man never believes me when I tell him that something is good. NEVER! But anyway, the rewatch of Baby Mama, along with my 15th viewing of the Jack/Liz bits of the 30 Rock premiere made me realize how utterly in love with Tina Fey I am. Like... I was sitting there thinking, "No wonder Alec's always staring at her boobs," and... I... I have no explanation for this. I like man parts, not woman parts, but damn, Tina makes me think some crazy thoughts. Also, I've been reading the 30 Rock spoilers, and I've just got to say this:
Steve Martin being Liz's love interest? Hell fucking yes!!! Especially since Steve is 13 years older than Alec, which means anti-shippers can shut up about the age difference between Liz and Jack. Also, I adored the chemistry between Tina and Steve in Baby Mama, so I'm looking forward to this. Also, I'm curious as to what makes Jack want to stop the fling developing between Gavin and Liz, especially since Jack is the one who encourages her to have a thing with Gavin.
Selma Hayek, BLECH!!!! She ruined a good number of Ugly Betty episodes for me, I do not want her doing this to me on 30 Rock. PLEASE tell me she'll be 100 times better than she was on Ugly Betty. PLEASE!!! And please don't let her have a massive arc. Ugh. I cannot take another season of her coming between one of my favorite ships. But... I can't help but think, just like Gavin is sort of a vindication for Jack being compatible with Liz age and personality wise, Selma's character might be the same vindication for Liz being compatible with Jack. Possibly? Don't know enough about her character yet. But, ugh, I hate that she's going to be Jack's love interest. Especially since Jack is a boob man, and she has massive boobs. Sorry, I'm all about boobs tonight for some reason. As I said, I like the man bits, but... I can appreciate a good pair of boobs, apparently.
