smith & jones: HAIR EDITION

Dec 04, 2010 02:55

Confession time. I've watched Smith & Jones many more times than someone would probably guess for it being a s3 episode that wasn't Shakespeare Code or Human Nature/Family of Blood.

Why, you ask?

Two reasons:
1) Rose references
2) THAT HAIR MAN. SHIT IS INSANE.

And because it's nearly finals week, any idea of procrastination just sounds like OMG TEH BEST EVER.  I blame goldy_dollar  for this one completely.

Did I mention I have a paper due in 11 hours? Eh.

ONWARD WITH THE HAIRECAP (hehe) of SMITH & JONES:

We begin our story with first glimpse of Ten, a few minutes into the episode. Nearly immidiately, we are treated with some wonderful hair. And not only that, but HIS COLLAR IS STICKING UP. I MEAN, WHAT EVEN? IS THE DOCTOR WHO TEAM ATTEMPTING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK SO SOON? WHY?

I mean, the man has his collar popped, and his hair is sticking straight up! It's defying gravity!

We then get our next glimpse of the Doctor in the hospital that Martha works. We're a little confused because he's in jimjams and is going by John Smith! Ah, the title of the episode makes sense! And once again, David proves he is the master of 4815162342 facial expressions:

What even is that face. I love it.

Now, let's continue and get a full shot of every side of his hair in the beginning of this episode.

Right:

Front:

Left:

How is his hair even doing that? Has it ever done that before? Meanwhile, the Doctor taunts us even more and gives us a wink, also highlighting another angle of his hair.

And sadly, that's the last we see of the Doctor in his jimjams. When we see him next, he's in A BRAND NEW SUIT. Now, I don't know about you, but I might not have taken to The Blue Suit as quickly if his hair didn't do these ungodly things in this episode. But they did. And I love that blue suit. Mostly because it's what was worn on the beach in Journey's End.

Sorry. Got distracted. BLUE SUIT COMPLETE WITH EPIC HAIR. I'm not sure how the Doctor does it. When I'm sick/in the hospital, I look like death. Is it some sort of Timelord feat to keep perfect hair at all times? I want in.

Now for a change of pace, let's examine these s3!sideburns. The sideburns play a very important part in complementing the Doctor's hair. They appear to be a bit more maintained that in s2. I like them, and he is definitely showing them off in this cap:

No where near the level of sideburn love in the specials, but I still love them here.

However, let's not forget The Power Of The Hair To Convey The Doctor's Emotions. Here, the hair manages to look a little sad as the Doctor mentions the battle at Canary Wharf.

Since we all know the rule, at least in s2 and s3 that usually when the Doctor's hair is down, he is emo. However, since the hair was so ridiculous in this episode, the director had no choice, but to not show the hair in the shot, as it would cause endless debate as to whether the Doctor was sad or not.

Yeah, okay this next one is just because I find that eyebrow to be just about the sexiest thing ever:

UNFFFFFFFFFFFF.

Now, I would just like to issue a warning before the next section. This is where we enter the climatic battle of David Tennant's hair versus gravity. Hint: Gravity loses.

Ready?

Here we are ready for takeoff, and you think you're nearly there, WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN:

WHAT EVEN IS THAT MESS OF HAIR. Even Martha is eying it with suspicion.

Last chance. Shit's about to get crazy up in here:

DAVID TENNANT'S HAIR: 1, GRAVITY: 0

And just when you thought it couldn't get ANY better, the Doctor is concerned his hair isn't reaching its maximum height. So he fixes that while a million fangirls faint.

PLEASE DOCTOR JUST KEEP DOING THAT. TY.

He then gives us all a better view.

I have no words to describe the hotness of this picture. I think at one point in this episode, there was something called plot, but I forget all when I see this.

Soon we see that the Doctor's mussing up of his own hair achieved a very nice look.

From the side:

And from the front:

The Doctor then messes with the xray and absorbs the excess radiation and doesn't die and dances it out. However, unlike when I WHIP Y HAIR BACK AND FORTH, his still looks amazing:

Work itttttttttt.

Evidence of continued gravity-defying hair with eyebrown porn:

Well, the Doctor usually does look pretty fantastic, even after absorbing radiation. Not that I'm still stuck on that or anything.

Just as we think we might have to pay attention to the plot, the Doctor goes and touches his hair. He should just not do that if we're supposed to even think about the plot. Because seriously.

MARTHA, HOW ARE YOU LOOKING AWAY FROM THAT?

lol, I am such a huge Doctor/Rose shipper and will forever hate that Ten did this, but I have such a crush on Ten's hands. OBSERVE:

I like that even when Ten's pissing me off, as in GitF, he make wonderful hand porn for me to enjoy. I appreciate it. Thanks, Ten.

Meanwhile, the Doctor's still trying out new looks. This next one is called *~*SuPeR cOnTrAsT*~*

You work that backlight, Ten.

And I guess the bad guys somehow got the Doctor? LOL LIKE I HAVE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION TO THE PLOT, ~WHATEVER.

SOMEONE ALERT RTD! HIS HAIR IS STARTING TO DROOP. WHY IS HE SO SAD?

What a face, Doctor:

BUT THE HAIR HAS REGAINED ITS HEIGHT. PLS, TEN, TELL US YOUR SECRETS.

Yeah, idk, just this picture cracks me up:

And the the Doctor proves that while the hair can make him unbelievably sexy and use his powers for good, The Hair can also help him be unbelievably adorable.

I mean, how is this even possible?

This is almost as good as when he was regenerating and sleeping with the teddy bear.

But then he is awake! And the hair has perked up! Amazing!

Ten's good hair day continues.

The mark of a good day for the Doctor is probably as follows:

1) Defeat some bad guys
2) Make some friendship bracelets with the Daleks
3) Draw Rose fanart
4) Listen to Snow Patrol
5) Keep hair intact and as gravity defying as ever through said events

And today was a success for the Doctor! \o/

He is happy! For once.

It appears that his hair is still very nice that evening, but clearly not as crazy as his time in the hospital. He compensates with the regular suit.

WHO WOULD SAY NO TO THAT?

EXACTLY.

And just incase you forgot about how hot he was at the beginning of the episode when he took his tie off all sexily, HE REMINDS YOU BY PUTTING IT BACK ON SEXILY.

And a closeup. Also, I faint.

But no matter the hair, the Doctor is always hottest when being emo about Rose. Well, except when they make out.

TY FOR HUMORING ME THROUGH THIS VERY LONG PICSPAM.

I suppose I should do that paper now.

david tennant is my favorite, the doctor and rose. otp forever., doctor who, ten is my favorite ever
