He came on a summer's day

I hung out at cry_me_a_road's place tonight. It was great. We pulled out some of her old journals (by "old," I mean that they were dated from around '00) and flipped through 'em and laughed and laughed about how things were. And we went over to the nearby elementary school--me in jeans and a t-shirt, she in the Robin Hood dress of days of yore--and we played on the swingsets and sung hymns at the top of our lungs. I'm really rediscovering the joys of swings--they're awesome--pumping back and forth until you're soaring, happy and as care-free as you can possibly allow yourself to be. And she rediscovered swings for the year again tonight as well. It's really good to have a friend who likes to be a kid still too...

The other thing of particular note is that Marj and Steve, two college friends, finally tied the knot on Sunday. And it was a lovely ceremony--light rain after the wedding itself, but no real big deal--but there was one problem with the ceremony. It was the kiss. To any of you who are not yet married... please, NO TONGUE when the minister tells the groom to kiss the bride. Seriously. I could forgive them for two reasons only: one, I love them both very dearly, and two, I was angled just about perfectly to see Steve's face after every kiss. His look of sheer love and joy made it worthwhile.

Beyond that. Uhm. I'm tired. I leave for Alaska on Saturday. There's a meme I've been ordered to do but I think I'm too tired for that at the moment. I'm off to bed, darnit.

friends, wedding
