Beer is generally considered to be somewhat bitter, even lagers and pilsners that claim to be clean and crisp still have some of that edge to them. Guinness seems to have that edge sharpened like a razor, but isn't gaudy about it like some beers I've had (read: Black Sheep ale). Guinness is best paired with heavy British cooking, something like Kidney Pie or fish and chips ... or fries if you feel like experimenting with it. Oh and it's thick enough to stand on so it almost constitutes a meal on it's own.

Actually I find that Corona is probably the only beer that I've had that didn't have that bitter cut to it. Thats probably because I can't taste the stuff and it leaves a very disturbing feeling in my mouth as opposed to a flavor.

If you like sweet stuff I suggest you try an "Irish car bomb."
1/3 pint of Guinness
1/2 shot of Bailies Irish Cream
1/2 shot of single malt scotch (may as well keep it an Irish whiskey for the hell of it)

put the Balies and scotch in a single shot glass and then drop them in the pint of Guinness and chug. The result tastes disturbingly like chocolate and is something that I treat like an over sized shooter.

Smithwicks - it's an irish beer made with no hops, so there's no bitterness to it, just golden barleyness.

Or a good hefeweizen, like Hoegaarden. You can't go wrong with yeast flavour.

Hoegaarden is good, I tried it originally because I've never heard of a white beer at the time and was curious.
