I had such a dull (but nice weekend) that I thought I would post it as a tiny picspam!

This way for the pics )

*coos jealously over the clean carpet*

I saw all of Clocking Off when it was first shown on the Beeb - enjoyable series at the beginning, although it got a bit tired by the end.

Annoyingly, they have only released series 1 of Clocking Off on DVD which is 6 epsiodes long. I can't remember what happened after that so I hope they are showing it all!

Do you want me to come and do yours? Tough!
I made the mistake of buying myself a cream rug so the hoovering cannot get left as long as it used to!

Phil Glenister in (possible) eyeliner? I have confess, that made me excited.

He does look cute but just a bit weird around the eyes - maybe he had his eyelashes tinted or something. If I find a picture, I'll let you know!

I found one here: http://www.tonynutley.co.uk/t78.html

Oh, my goodness - I see what you mean! When you look at the pick, your eyes go straight to the eyes. I'd think tinted eyelashes more likely than eyeliner, though!

I loved History Boys. Some really wonderful writing from Alan Bennett and the acting was first rate. I'm very interested in that Clocking Off. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on it here in the States. If nothing else, I can get it off Amazon UK and watch it on my laptop which is set to Region 2. Is that Christopher Eccleston I spy on the DVD cover, BTW? And speaking of a young Phil Glenister, I loved him as Dobbin in the BBC Vanity Fair with Natasha Little. A far cry from Gene Hunt!

History Boys was very good, and you're right about the acting. There was such a sense of the camaraderie between the boys and Hector.
Clocking Off is wonderful - each episode is a complete piece of drama but the setting and characters play throughout the series. The episode that Chris Eccleston is in is a cracker! Many of the actors in it have gone on to bigger and better things - no programme maker would be able to afford to cast them all together now!
I haven't watched that version of Vanity Fair since it aired - I may just go and seek it out now that you have reminded me about Phil Glenister.

The whole stepper thing and the embroidery are considerably more activity than I ever manage.

I loved The History Boys, largely because it was literate and intelligent. You don't realise quite how low TV and film's common denominator has sunk until you find something that expects the audience to use their brains a bit. And by 'you', of course, I mean 'I'.

I didn't do that long on the stepper, but as Tescos so rightly point out, every little helps.

The History Boys is the kind of film us Brits do well and should do more, rather than spending the money on 40 more series of X Factor or Eastenders. There are places for all this stuff. I just wish there was more room for the quality!
