Some of you are clearly in need of a really good laugh, so here are the
winners of the 2006 Bulwer-Lytton Awards. Librarians note the Dishonorable Mention in sci-fi.
In other news, I seem to have acquired a wonderful batch of student assistants. About half of last year's are back and all the new people seem really nice. The one that is there when we open is not only a pro coffee-maker, he is also a former electrician and may have saved us from doom and destruction by pointing out a problem with an extension cord. (If I get bored, I may ask him what he thinks about 2/3 of the wiring being the original 1941 stuff complete with two-prong outlets and see if he spazzes.) Most recently, we picked up a very eager, very polite freshman who was pleased as punch to only have to work one or two nights a week. He actually thanked us a couple times for letting him work here. Awww, they're so cute! :) I just need one or two more and we're set.
I finished revising the student assistant manual. B likes it, even though I pretty much took her work, hacked it up, and reconstituted the non-redundant bits in less stilted language (read: smaller words). Now it doesn't look like it was pieced together over eight years.
I also finished writing the grant and will email it first thing tomorrow. Thanks to those who looked it over. :) Boss Lady said it was good and wrote a shiny letter of recommendation to go with it. Although she is also setting me up to teach A Real Class, as she mentioned this would be useful if I ever taught Young Adult Lit. Meep! There better be a heckuva lot of extra pay if they want to me stand up and talk for an entire semester. (Ha. Haha.)
