Uh, hi!

It's been forever since I last blogged, and it's clear that I've lost my mojo somewhere. If you see it, would you mind passing it back?

Last Weekend
It was crazy. When Mia woke up last Friday, she had weepy eyes that immediately made me think "pink eye", but Ed thought it was probably just her allergies and my sister agreed when I called her for an Experienced Mommy Consult. I took Mia off to her last day at Miss Tammy's daycare as scheduled, and went off to the library drive-thru (which, btw, is made of win), and then to the party supply store to pick up some stuff and place a balloon order.

While I was checking out, my phone rang, and when I called the person back, it was Tammy telling me that Mia's eyes were weepy much more than when I dropped her off, and they were red. Fuuuuuuck. Pink eye.

I called Ed, who was conveniently working from home, and who happened to need to run some errands anyway. He went off to pick up Mia while I left a message at the doctor's office and went to the grocery store.

I got home, put everything away, and organized and cleaned the fridge, freezer, and pantry. When Ed got home we took care of calling all of the party guests to tell them that the party was postponed, and then Ed hung around a bit so that I could get some work done before he went back to his own stuff. Mia's pink eye got worse over the course of the evening and when the doctor's office finally called me back, it was to tell me that they couldn't get her in until the next day. She looked pitiful.

We went to the doctor the next morning and were almost immediately told that it was pink eye and were given the option of drops that sting or ointment that has to go inside of the toddler's eyes. We can put a man on the moon, but can't make pink eye treatments that are remotely easy to administer to a two year old?

We went to Target to put in the ointment prescription and pick up assorted other items. I cleaned when we got home while Mia hung out with Ed, and once she was down for a nap, I went to the Harford Live! Home & Garden Show at Ripken Stadium with admiringbog and Michaela. I've never been to that kind of event before and didn't know what to expect. As it was, I'm glad I only paid $4 to get in, but it was worth it to get out of the house and spend some time with the Harris ladies.

When I got home I found that Mia hadn't slept at all while I was gone. When I went upstairs to check on her, I found that her pants and diaper were off and she'd pooped on her pillow and smeared it all over the crib. EW. I called Ed, who whisked her off to the bathtub while I took care of cleaning up her room.

I cleaned some more over the course of the afternoon until serendipitymyst arrived to visit the birthday girl. She's not going to be able to make the rescheduled birthday party, so she brought her present (adorable clothes and a Border's gift card so that we can get Mia a new book), picked up her copy of Mia's 2-year photos, and hung out for a dinner of grilled chicken courtesy of Ed. We had a nice evening visiting until Lauren hit the road around 10. I read for a little while before bed, but crashed eventually.

On Sunday, Mia slept in until 9 thanks to not taking a nap the day before. Ed took her downstairs while I read for a bit and then went downstairs to resume my cleaning. I busted my ass for a couple of hours, took a long shower to wash off the dust, and then relaxed while Ed grilled our lunch.

Mia handled the ointment applications really well and there was an almost-immediate improvement to the pink eye, thankfully. She looked like the loser in a prize fight for awhile there.

Mom came up to visit that afternoon and brought Mia's birthday present with her - a Little Tykes kitchen. It's been a huge hit and there's a slew of plastic kitchen bits 'n' bobs strewn around the play room. The kitchen speaks... English, Spanish, and French. I've been listening to English and Spanish-speaking toys since she was a newborn, but French is a new one for me.

Mia skipped her nap yet again, and as a result, sacked out on the floor while watching Blue's Clues after Mom left. She slept for about 30 minutes and woke up disoriented and crying. She was just so tired - poor baby. We got her up and awake, fed her her dinner, and then put her to bed at her normal time.

It was a cleaning-intensive weekend for me, and while it sucked ass, I was SO happy with how clean my house was at the end of it. I vacuumed, swept, scrubbed, dusted, laundered, folded, sorted, organized... ugh. It's continued into this week, too, trying to stay on top of everything as the postponed birthday party approaches and I prepare to have 25 people in my house. I'm so sick of cleaning and worrying about things getting done that I can't even begin to put it into words.

Mia has been going to her new daycare all week and aside from a new pattern of crying when Ed drops her off, it's been going well. She doesn't stay upset for long, and doesn't get upset again throughout the day. Her new daycare provider is Miss Jennifer, the same provider that admiringbog and family use, so Mia gets to spend all day with Mike. According to Jennifer, they're quite an adorable little duo.

This week has been same ol', same ol', and as of this afternoon, I'm off for a three-day weekend, which is awesome, and so well-timed.

admiringbog and I picked up the girls at the same time and went to Bateman's for dinner, then Mia and I went to Bruster's to pick up dessert. We had a nice time while the boys are out with a bunch of old co-workers. When we got home I let Mia watch TV and I cuddled with her for awhile then went back to my cleaning.

She fought going to bed, but is finally quiet and I'm catching up on some DVRed TV. I've been reading a lot more than usual lately and haven't really cared much about TV. I'm catching up on certain shows and letting others pile up. I'll get around to them at some point.

Plans for this weekend include: getting my haircut, running errands, more cleaning, a facial and body scrub at the spa overnight trip, Mia's birthday party, and then finally, relaxing... and not caring if the house gets dirty. Whee!
