post office anger!

Ok so get this.  My landlord is doing some construction on the fly in the basement of the house apartment I'm renting, which is fine, even with all the men outside and loud banging and whatnot, but which is NOT fine, is that they tore out the front porch last week so the postman can't get to the mailbox!  (The mailboxes are right next to the door, and there are steps leading up to the door, and since they ripped out the foundation, you'd be in a 10-foot hole and the door/mailboxes would be above you if you tried to get in through the front)  I'm expecting some time-sensitive mail, and I was definitely not happy about this.  I called my new landlord (Bartonbrook sold us, apparently!) and I emailed him, but never got a response back.  Oh, and the electricity for half the house stopped working too.  Then yesterday, I come back and I find that the electricity works again so I can plug in my fans, which is all very well but where's my freakin' mail?!?!  So today, I called all the post offices around Ann Arbor (the main post office wouldn't pick up) and each one of them directed me to the main office, so eventually I got kind of mad that no one was answering.  I just kept the phone ringing and ringing, and after fifteen minutes, I *finally* get through!  To top it all off, the guy who answered was so surly and rude to me.  He kept interrupting me and not giving direct answers, and when I tried to find out where my packages were, he kept saying, "I'm sure they're all right, don't worry about it."  WTF!!!  I didn't ask you if they were all right, I asked where the heck they were!!  If he was within smacking distance, I would have whopped him a good one.  >..>  I can take yelling, screaming, insults, and rudeness, and smile back and tell them I'll help them as much as they can, and that I'm sorry for the inconvenience.  You do NOT treat your customers like they are not worth the poop you step on.  Sheesh...I could show them a thing or two.
Anyway, to make a long rant short(er), I got transferred back to the main office where I spoke with the carrier of my mail, and he told me my landlord had put out a black box yesterday for him to put all the mail, which is great!!  He was so nice.  I asked him about the packages and he described them to me exactly, and I was so happy they were all right.  Now if only the landlord will communicate better with me...I mean it's wonderful that he listens, but he should respond too because how am I supposed to know he's done all this if he doesn't say anything?!  This whole round of phone calls might have never occurred...but I'm glad it did, because now I know how evul post office workers are.  Except for the ones at South University.  They're nice.  ;)

Picnic lunch today!  Can't wait! =D
