There was something peaceful about heading into work early. To just take time to relax before all the bustle of the day began. Kame walked through the quite halls of the Jimusho to the dressing room basking in the calm before the storm. Walking up to the door, thinking that it was odd how it was mostly closed, Kame could hear someone inside, and if he wasn't mistaken it sounded like they were crying.

Hand flying onto the doorknob, he had to stop himself from going into overprotective mode. There was only three people that could be in there and if one of them was crying that meant someone had hurt one of his family, and that someone was going to pay for that. Mentally counting to three, Kame forced himself to not barge into the room demanding the name of whoever it was he now had to pummel, instead he thought the whole thing through. He worked with three very strong and assertive men, so none of them would really appreciate Kame bursting in on them at that moment. Plus tears usually meant relationship issues. Maru, as far as Kame knew, wasn't seeing anyone, and Junno was in a rock solid relationship, unless Koki had done something stupid then Kame had a whole other issue there, so that left Ueda. Yes, Kame was going to have to tread lightly with this one.

Pushing the door open slowly Kame was grateful when it creaked, signalling his entrance into the room. He could hear Ueda scurrying around, so when he finally entered Ueda's back was to him as he stood behind the couch that was in the middle of the room, trying to wipe the evidence off his face with his hands.

"Hey," Kame called out softly, staying in the doorway to give Ueda some space.

"Kame, hey. I didn't hear you come in." Ueda was forcing himself to sound normal, but the sniffling after the sentence kind of gave the truth away.

Kame slowly started walking towards the couch, trying to make his voice light, "everything okay?"

Ueda turned to face him, eyes and the tip of his nose still red, and nodded, "contacts are really dry, that's all." Ueda forced a smile that didn't reach his eyes, making Kame determined to find out who this guy was and deck him for killing Ueda's beautiful smile.

Kame shoved his hands in his jeans pockets and nodded awkwardly, looking around the room at the pile of tissues sitting on the table in front of the couch. He figured this was not the moment to point out there was no bottle of eye drops anywhere. Instead he looked back at Ueda, taking a wild stab in the dark. "So, how's, Takaya I think you said his name was?"

Within seconds Kame wished he hadn't asked, as he watched Ueda's smile crumble and his chin began to quiver. In a few strides, Kame was in front of Ueda, one arm around his narrow waist pulling him into a hug, while his other hand brushed Ueda's hair in efforts to comfort the older man as he cried into Kame's shoulder. The two stood there, the only noise coming from Ueda's sniffling, until he was calm enough for Kame to take his hand and lead him to the couch.

"What happened? He seemed to really like you?" Kame asked gently.

Reaching over Ueda took another tissue from the box on the table and began to wipe his nose, "he does like me, just as a friend."

Kame narrowed his eyes in confusion, "but he's pretty much constantly texting you, whenever you guys go out, it's just the two of you, he's introduced you to most of his friends, and he drops sexual innuendos to you non-stop. That sounds like you're someone pretty damn special to him."

Ueda nodded with a sad smile, "I am, I'm one of his best friends."

Kame physically flinched, knowing that term was the kiss of death in terms of wanting a relationship. It was right up there with 'one of the guys'. He had used it once, innocently not knowing what Jin had been hinting at. Very few people knew that saying was one of the main reasons for their falling out.

"I take it you told him you liked him?"

Ueda shook his head, that sad smile still in place, "I didn't get that far. I asked him where he felt we were going, and that's the answer I got."

Taking Ueda's hand, Kame wished there was something he could do other then lamely say, "I'm so sorry Tat-chan."

Ueda shrugged his right shoulder, taking comfort in the touch of his hand in Kame's, "it's okay. It's better that I know instead of wasting my efforts on someone who doesn't want them."

"You know what, screw him." Kame suddenly declared, earning a quirked eyebrow from the man sitting with him, "I don't mean literally. I mean, if he can't see what an incredible guy you are, he doesn't deserve you. You're smart, beautiful and young," the last getting a scoff from Ueda.

"I know you don't always feel young, but really you are. All I'm trying to say is you'll find someone. Besides, the heart works in mysterious ways," Kame looked down, taking a breath before looking back up at Ueda.

"Maybe the person who does see how incredible you are is someone you least expect. Someone sitting right in front of you, waiting for you to notice him."  Kame watched Ueda's eyes grow wide as he deciphered Kame's underlying meaning. Ueda opened his mouth to say something, just as the voices of Junno and Maru could be heard down the hall.

Kame dropped Ueda's hand quickly, wiping his palms on his jeans, "why don't you go wash up. I'll fend off the heard for you."

Ueda nodded as he stood then headed for the door. Placing his hand on the door frame, Ueda turned to face Kame, who was know standing in front of his dressing table about to begin his process of getting ready for a day in front of the cameras, "Kazuya."

"Yeah," Kame turned to face him, but he was awkward, with his hands shoved in his jeans pockets again and looking afraid of what Ueda was going to say next after his subtle confession.

Smiling that full smile that always gave Kame butterflies in the pit of his stomach, Ueda spoke softly, "thanks for everything."

Ueda looked away from the younger man, a sweet blush creeping over his face, before looking into Kame's eyes again. "I have noticed the guy standing in front of me. It's nice to know that he's noticed me too."

Before Kame could say anything, Ueda scooted out the door just as Junno and Maru were trying to enter.

"Uepi!" Junno called out, then turned to Kame, "is everything okay?"

Kame nodded, unable to keep a goofy smile off his face. "Yeah, I think it is."
