More amusing things found in books...

"Sale of this book without a front cover may be unauthorized. If this book is coverless, it may have been reported to the publisher as 'unsold or destroyed' and neither the author nor the publisher may have received payment for it."

I don't think I've ever seen a book being sold without a front cover. I think the only way anyone would actually have on would be if it was an old book that the cover had fallen off of, in which case, why would you try to sell it? And if it was an old book, I'm sure the publisher got paid for it at some point...

and...

"This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents are the products of the author's imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual events, locales, or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental."

I have seen this type of disclamer in several books. I always think that these type of warnings are only needed when the characters, incidents, ect. actually do resemble real people and occurrences. Which makes sense because many authors do draw from their own lives and the people that they meet. They probably just have to avoid pissing anyone off, and of course don't want to deal with the lawsuits.
