tummy still not 100%. Back at work tomorrow. Had one day of my sick leave without pay. I have run out again!
:)

I got bored after sitting at home and sleeping for a few days...
so I got stuck into that hat. It is based on a Vecellio drawing of a middleaged Tuscan woman.... The pleating is large, brim small and it is not too fancy...

Sorry LJ won't let me do a Cut thingy to hide the pics ... again... argh...

I cheated and started with an el-cheapo shop cardboard hat.... stripped and chopped the brim...

I was told a trick of using a rubberband to hold the pleats in place while fiddling...

on the right is the brim pattern
I used one of those curved needles to handsew the top on

I pinned the brim on

and sewed the join

I made a pattern for the lining. and hand sewed it with a small running stitch and flat felled seam to reduce the bulk.

more handsewing... I pinned the hatband in the rim and it is now sewn on...

the hardest part is what to trim it with (that I have already)... I am not doing feathers wtih this one...
