(no subject)
Just got back from Star Trek, which was awesome as far as dialog and dramatic development, but a total failure as far as physics*. Truly cool though, and worth a viewing. We got out, though, and discovered Dad had left the lights on in the rental car, and the battery was dead. Luckily, we were rescued by a very nice horse insurance salesman, so we made it back. Tomorrow I am taking my parents to see the La Brea tar pits, which are delightfully touristy. It should be tons of fun.
Now all I need to do is pack.
*which I don't understand, because space battles are so much cooler when you invoke physics. I mean gravity weapons? Badass. I highly recommend the Scott Westerfeld novels The Risen Empire and The Killing of Worlds for cool physics-existant space battles.
