It's a good thing Walmart wants me, because the PD doesn't. I got the letter yesterday, saying, basically, thanks for applying, but no. I've emailed the sergeant to ask him if there was a specific reason why not, and if they'll keep my info on file.

Also, since I no longer have to worry about the good sergeant trolling for me in a background check, I've unlocked everything and taken the friends-only entry down.
