busy week

I am, potentially, among the employed. Walmart offered me a job, contingent on me passing both the drug screen and the background check. I've already peed (those results will be back next week) and assuming it comes back clean (it will) then they'll do the background check. Assuming *that* comes back clean too (and it will) then the job is mine.

The dispatcher interview this AM was kinda interesting. Clearly they intended to be intimidating (me, in a chair against the wall, facing the six of them behind a table) but that sort of thing just doesn't work well with me. I feel like it went well. I could have answered a few questions differently, I'm sure, but at no point do I feel like I stuffed it up. The sergeant said they had a dozen interviews today, at which point they would make a decision, then start the background checks. When those come back in three weeksish, then we'll all hear, either a rejection letter from HR or from him personally, to schedule the next part. The next part includes the drug screen, a psych screen, medical exam and a polygraph. I didn't think polys were legal to use during the interview process, but whatever-it's not like I've got a body in my back yard, or a counterfeiting press in the shed. (Also, maybe by then it doesn't count as 'interview process' any more, but part of the job.)

Assuming they hire me, by the time they're done with all the hooyah, it'll be after the new year that we start. I'll stay at Walmart until then, and keep them both (assuming there's a both) if I can. At any rate, I'll hear one way or the other by Thanksgiving.
