Pi-Con

I'm heading to Pi-Con today, and I expect it to be awesome as usual.

Unfortunately, I have a lesson today. I only scheduled it for today because I was too tired to get up for one on Wednesday so I needed to reschedule it. I'm not thrilled to have to teach a lesson on the way to the Con, but that's the way it is. Once that is done, It's 48 hours of Pi-Con.

I filmed my video blog for Thursday and am trying to upload it, but the only place I have time to stop is the Whately Diner which has r e a l l y s l o w Internet. It's perfectly reliable, just super slow. It will take over two hours to upload the video, which is not so much acceptable since I have to leave in ten minutes.

Oh, well, it will have to wait until I get to the Hotel.

Speaking of the hotel, I am very excited to be responsible for absolutely nothing at Pi-Con this year. Last year I made a serious error in that I allowed myself to get stuck at the Worlds Apart vending table which was a very depressing experience. Nothing against Worlds Apart or the vending table. All things being equal that would be fun. However, I had gone from Chair in charge of the whole convention at 2Pi-Con to stuck at a vending table at 3Pi-Con. Not being on staff last year, I was thinking "well, at least I'll finally get to enjoy the convention I worked so hard on before." Not so much. So I had lots of time at the table to sit and think about how much I was no longer Chair.

This year, I have learned my lesson. This year I will be enjoying the con, going to panels and performances, smoozing, meeting people, promoting events, and all the fun stuff with no direct, immediate responsibility.

All of this is possible because there are so many other great people who are doing things that I don't have to do. Dan, Lee, Peter, and maybe Lex and Mel taking care of Worlds Apart so I don't have to worry about it. And, let's not forget the great people who are running the con itself. For once, I can actually relax and just enjoy the con.

*does a little dance*

worlds apart, pi-con
