Just another hot and humid Friday

I had to go to the vet's today to pick up some stuff for the diabetic cat. While I was in there, a woman came with a box full of tiny kittens - they had been found half dead at her place of work (outside), with the mother nowhere in sight. Since the job site is close to a highway, she believed the mother dead. She was cool - she plans to adopt the kittens if they survive. It is somewhat doubtful - they need milk every three hours. Well, at least this woman did something and did not simply leave them there to starve.

Life here has become somewhat difficult - good thing we have so many rooms and doors that can be closed. When Hobbs saw one of our other cats for the first time, he started shrieking. Last night, he ate some food with another cat in the same room. Today, however, he saw the same cat and wanted to attack him. He got really dramatic about it, too, lots of snarling and hissing. It's a good thing that Jack is old and mellow and does not attack back. Which did not mean he was thrilled about it. I think he blames it on me, just like he blamed me when Carly arrived two years ago, and started chasing him around the yard. At least that has gotten better - Hobbs: of course then there's the problem with Mr. Pee-Cat and Carly the female. I have not even tried to introduce him to them. Carly is another shrieker. Fred, pee-boy is grumpy and very territorial. It is funny that they all love me and obey (to some degree), but find it hard to get on with each other. So the current situation is this: Hobbs in the living room, Carly in my room, Fred and Jack in the bedroom together, since they are brothers and get on well. Lots of doors to be closed, and of course they never stay where they are supposed to. Then they encounter each other and SHRIEK!!!!!

Word used most often since Tuesday: No! No! No!

Well, I used to complain that it was too quiet since Gary died. The quiet is definitely over.
