Staple restaurants

While I'm as adventurous as the next person when it comes to trying new food and new places, sometimes I just want reliable food.  One of those places for me is CIBO.  I know the food I'm going to get will taste good and be of good quality and I won't get any unpleasant surprises.  Tonight was just such a night.  My friend and I went to the Promenade for dinner and couldn't decide where to eat.  There were many places we hadn't tried yet, but somehow CIBO was just the easier decision.

CIBO serves authentic casual high-end Italian dishes, if that phrase even makes sense.  I juts mean they serve more than the spaghetti and lasagna that can be found everywhere here in Manila.  I usually have an olive oil or tomato based pasta, but this time I tried a different pasta dish whose name I can't remember now. (Must remind myself to buy a notebook so I can jot down restaurant information while I still remember it!)  I also neglected to take a picture of the dish, which is too bad because it was delicious.  I had penne with liver pate, pancetta, cream, and sage.  The liver pate really contributed to the taste of the pasta.  Yummy!  And something I will try to recreate one day.

I wanted to drink their iced tea with mint syrup but but they were out of it so I ended up copying my friend's order of a white grape shake.

I guess white grape shake sounds better than green grape shake.  This is the first time I've tried this drink and I'm glad I did.  Last time I tried the normal grape shake and it had seeds, so that wasn't a pleasant experience.  This really tasted like white grape.  It wasn't overly sweetened and when I got to the bottom, the last bits of ice still tasted like the fruit and not like water.

So CIBO is still on my list of staple restaurants.  What are some of your staple restaurants?

manila, italian, greenhills
