Thoughts on Actresses

Hey, so I just did a journal entry talking about the actresses on Firefly and more recently Dollhouse, and some trends that link them together as well as a basic-short-little-critique of what I have seen so far of Dollhouse. Let me know your thoughts/opinions, agreements/disagreements.

Perhaps... But I've seen her act in other things and she was a different character. I guess in Firefly, the "distant from reality" that you see, I see as part of the character not really feeling like she fits in with the crew. Mal is always dissing her, and she's in love with Mal. Jayne is always making crude comments, but Kaylee she's friends with and that shows... but I see that she grows closer to the other characters---unfortunately with only 13 episodes we really don't get to see a character arc for her.

To me, at least, speaking as a man who finds women attractive, and has a softspot for brunettes *cough*... To me, the other female character on Firefly are beautiful, but Inara has this beauty that is both elegant, exotic, and otherworldy... and untouchable by mere mortals.

But at the same time she's a high-price "space geisha"... so available, at a price. But not to Mal.. or the crew of the Firefly. Or to me, in the 21st Century. So yeah, to me when I see the show I see that she doesn't quite fit in because of who she is, rather than attributing it to suck acting on the part of the actor. :)
